PT NEWCOMERS
The Peters Township Newcomers and Neighbors Club will host a Ladies Night Out on Sept. 11 at Valleybrook Country Club.
All women can attend and meet members to get to know the organization.

ART SHOW
The third annual art in the park will be held from 2 to 7 p.m. Sept. 6 in Dormont Park.
The free, family-friendly event features 40 artisan vendors, immersive art experiences and activities, including cyanotypes, a story stroll, a children’s book swap, a vinyl record swap, a bubble garden and a chalk walk.

RECYCLE
A household chemical collection event will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sept. 6 at the South Park Wave Pool parking lot. Automotive fluids, household cleaners, paint and pesticides are among the items that will be collected. A $20 fee will cover the cost of disposal. Advanced registration is required. The Mt. Lebanon Genealogy Society will meet at 1 p.m. Sept. 15 in the audio-visual Room of Mt. Lebanon Public Library.
Kate Townsend, a former professional investigator turned genealogist, will speak on the topic, “Court Records Research without the Law Degree.” Attendees will discover how to explore courthouses to find records involving ancestors. Knight School Varsity Chess for ages 5 to 12 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesdays. Fee is $200 ($300 nonmembers).
Pumpkin Nail String Art from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Sept. 17. This ladies night workshop will guide participants through a step-by-step process to design pumpkin art using wood board nails, string and a hammer. Fee is $15 ($20 nonmembers).
Speed and agility with Dion Wiegand begins Sept. 4. Ages 8 to 15 meet from 5 to 6 p.m. Thursdays for eight weeks. Fee is $100 ($150 nonmembers).
Tiny Tots Gym Time from 1 to 3 p.m. the first and third Friday of every month. Ages 5 and under socialize during unstructured play time in the gym. Parents must be on site to supervise their children.
Little Sunflowers. Ages 3 to 5 can participate in the one-day program held 10 to 11 a.m. Sept. 9. Autumn-inspired games and sunflower crafts will be featured. Participants must be accompanied by an adult. Fee is $5 per child ($8 nonmembers).
Youth Hip Hop Dance for ages 5 to 12 on Tuesdays from 6:35 to 7:20 p.m. Fee is $50 ($75 nonmembers). Students learn routines featuring hip hop and various styles of old school, street dance and modern funk. No experience necessary.
Jiu Jitsu on Mondays for ages 7 to 12 from 4:45 to 5:45 and for ages 13 to 17 from 5:45 to 6:45 p.m. Students learn the basics of the martial art through drills, exercises and training.
Martial Arts on Thursdays for ages 3 to 5 from noon to 12:45 p.m. and ages 6 to 12 from 6 to 7 p.m. Fee is $80 ($120 nonmembers). Uniforms cost $30 and orders are placed at first class.
20/20/20: This cardio, weight work, balance, stability and core class is instructed by Hillary Echard and held at 4 p.m. Wednesdays. Fee is $70 ($105 nonmembers).
Registration is also being accepted for all one-day programs and sessions classes.
HARMONY SINGERS
The Harmony Singers are seeking new members. The new season begins with an open rehearsal at 7 p.m. Sept. 16 at the Brightwood Christian Church, 5044 W. Library Ave. in Bethel Park. Singers should arrive between 6:30 and 6:45 pm for a meet-and-greet and music distribution.
All voice parts are needed for this volunteer choral group based in the South Hills for over 50 years. In addition to preparing for its annual holiday concert, the group performs a wide variety of music including Broadway, standard classics, oldies, patriotic and pop tunes. The group is available to perform for civic, social, church and business organizations.

AHN BBQ
The Allegheny Health Network’s Men with Cancer BBQ & Wellness Fair will be held from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Sept. 16 at the Wexford Health + Wellness Pavilion, Cafeteria & Dining Hall, located at 12311 Perry Highway. YOUTH CHORUS
The Pittsburgh Youth Chorus is offering free classes for those interested in joining. New singers for the 2025-26 season are needed. Grades 1 to 12 are eligible.
Open classes for the neighborhood training choirs for grades 1-2 will meet Mondays Sept. 15, 22 and 29 in Upper St. Clair. Classes are also offered in Coraopolis and Allison Park as well as Shadyside on Tuesdays or Wednesdays in September.
The talisman and bel canto singers offer introductory classes for grades 3-8 at 6:15 p.m. Tuesdays on Sept. 16, 23 and 30 at the Duquesne University School of Music.
The headwaters and bridge city singers, grades 9-12, meet at 5:30 p.m. Sundays at the Duquesne University School of Music. Free introductory classes will be offered Sept. 16, 23 and 30.

WASTE DROP
Bethel Park will hold its last yard waste drop-off of the year from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sept. 20 at the municipal public works building. Yard waste is considered: grass clippings only in paper bags; leaves; tree branches from trimming only (no bigger than 4 inches in diameter and 36 inches long), and shrubbery that’s been trimmed. Items may be loose in trucks or packed in paper bags. No plastic bags will be accepted.

Nominations are being sought for the newly established Bethel Park Citizen of the Year program. The deadline for nominations is Sept. 30.
The program will recognize an individual, age 18 or older, who has demonstrated community leadership, made a significant contribution to the municipality, has positively impacted Bethel Park residents and has shown generosity and unselfishness through actions.
