EARTH DAY

LeboGreen will host the 17th annual Mt. Lebanon Earth Day Celebration set for April 26 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Main Park on Cedar Boulevard.

The event offers new ideas, energy, and a renewed commitment to an environmentally

resilient future with family-friendly activities and eco-forward vendors and innovations.

LeboGreen is a group of Mt. Lebanon citizen volunteers devoted to conserving energy, water and waste in the community. The group works with residents, elected officials, institutions, businesses, nonprofits, and the Mt. Lebanon Resiliency Board to educate the community and to encourage the implementation of sustainable strategies.

The organization hosts a free community “Sustainability Series” at various dates throughout the year.

FLEA MARKET

A flea market will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. April 25 in the cafeteria of Keystone Oaks High School. Proceeds benefit the KO chapter of Educators Rising. Refreshments will be available. Admission and parking are free.

ART & STEAM

An arts fest and STEAM expo will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. April 25 at Bethel Park High School.

TOURS

The Penn Woods Classical Academy located in Scott Township is holding tours at 10 a.m Tuesdays of the school and presentations about classical education. The pre-kindergarten through seventh grade academy will add a grade each year to 12th.

5K RUN

GRAVE EVENT

America 250! Grave Dedication Ceremony at Bethel Cemetery, located at 2999 Bethel Church Road, Bethel Park, will be held at 11 a.m. May 2.

The event is co-hosted by the Bethel Fife and Drum Chapter, NSDAR and Pittsburgh Chapter SAR. Fifteen Revolutionary War patriots are buried at the cemetery

Bethel Presbyterian Church will open its history room for the day so attendees can learn about the cemetery and church, which is also celebrating its 250th anniversary.

WOODVILLE

A Mother’s Day Tea will be held at 2 p.m. May 9 at Woodville located at 1375 Washington Pike.

In addition to tea and sandwiches inside the historic Neville House, Jessica Young will speak. Her topic will be What to Wear to the Revolution: Clothing in America from 1760-1789.

CRAFTER CALL

Applications are being accepted for John McMillan Presbyterian Church’s annual Christmas Affair.

Space is limited for the event scheduled from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Nov. 7 at 875 Clifton Road, Bethel Park.

Each year, more than 50 artisans showcase a wide variety of handmade goods and holiday gifts at the event, which also includes a festive Gingerbread House, chance auction and the Kris Kringle Kafé. Admission is free.

CONCERT

A free concert featuring the Pittsburgh Youth Symphony Orchestra will be held at 7:30 p.m. May 17 at Heinz Hall.

The program includes Respighi’s Pines of Rome, the Overture to Beethoven’s ballet The Creatures of Prometheus, Leonard Bernstein’s Three Dance Episodes from “On the Town,” and Rachmaninoff’s Isle of the Dead.

The concert also features PYSO cellist Albert Dong, the winner of the 2025-26 season conducting competition. He will lead the orchestra for Beethoven’s Overture to The Creatures of Prometheus.

FLEA MARKET

Church of the Atonement, 618 Washington Ave., Carnegie, will have its Spring Flea Market April 24 and 25.

The event will run from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. each day. However, on April 24 it will close at noon and reopen at 1 p.m. for the bag sale. Cash only will be accepted.

Items available will include kitchen items, small appliances, clothing, shoes, puzzles, decorations, gift ideas and home goods. Proceeds will support the church’s community outreach programs.

Donations will be accepted until April 19. Televisions, large electronics and large furniture cannot be accepted for this sale. For more information, call 412-279-1944.

SPEAKER

Bower Hill Church hosts author and scholar Andrew Root. He will speak April 22 on ways that

congregations can maintain and build spiritual vitality in a climate of decline and fragmentation.

Root, a professor of youth and family ministry at Luther Seminary in St. Paul, Minn., will speak at the second session of a three-part speaker series. The session will run from 4 to 8 p.m. at Cefalo’s Banquet and Event Center, located at 428 Washington Ave. in Carnegie

Dinner is included with the $35 registration.

Root is author of “When Church Stops Working.” He is also author of the six-volume “Ministry in a Secular Age” series and hosts the podcast of the same name.

BOOK SALE

The Friends of the Jefferson Hills Public Library’s annual Book & Boutique Sale will run from April 23-26 in the community rooms of the library, located at 925 Old Clairton Road.

A preview party will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. April 23. Presale tickets are $10. Day-of-the event price is $12.

Hours for the regular sale are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. April 24 and 25. Sunday hours are 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. with 50% off boutique items and $5 bag or $10 medium box sale.

CONCERT

The Unity Presbyterian Church will present Brent Vernon and Sam at 5 p.m. April 25. The free concert will be held in the sanctuary of the church, located at 1165 Greentree Road. A free-will offering will be collected.

Since 1995, Vernon, who is a singer/songwriter/ventriloquist, and his pal Sam have criss-crossed the United States, Ireland, Australia, Canada and the Caribbean sharing a ministry through a variety of concerts and presentations in churches, schools, and at special events.

RAFFLE

The deadline to enter the Pymatuning Area Getaway Raffle is April 30.

The Friends of the South Park Township Library is again sponsoring their seven-day, six-night Pymatuning Lake Cottage Getaway.

Tickets can be purchased at the South Park Township Library’s circulation desk. Ticket donations are $1 for 1, $5 for 7, or $10 for 15.

Tickets will be drawn April 30 at the library. The prize must be redeemed by Nov. 15.

David Hummel of Your Town Realty donated the prize, which includes a stay in a furnished two-bedroom cottage along the shores of Pymatuning Lake, which offers fishing, boating, swimming, wildlife watching, hiking trails and picnic areas.

PT REC

Registration for the following Peters Township recreation department activities is being accepted online and at the Peters Township recreation center:

Seed Bombs will be made from 6 to 7 p.m. April 20 by children, ages 7 to 11, to celebrate Earth Day. The creations will help flowers grow and make the planet greener. Fee is $5 ($8 nonmembers).

Summer Day Camps will be offered for chess, volleyball, theater, sports, science and cooking. Details and registration information can be found on the website.

Parking Lot Bingo from noon to 2 p.m. April 29 for senior citizens only. Players receive disposable cards and markers and honk their horn when they get a bingo. Space is limited. Bring your own snacks and drinks.

Babushkas & Hard Hats: This bus trip explores Pittsburgh’s steel heritage and highlights the people, places and events that shaped the Steel City. Tourists will visit the Bost Building, Carrie Blast Furnaces and Pump House while learning about the 1892 Homestead Strike. Lunch is included. The bus departs at 8 a.m. and returns at 4:30 p.m. on July 23. Fee is $210. Registration deadline is May 4.

Bugs and Blankets from 1 to 2 p.m. April 22. The event will include picnic-themed games, crafts and activities. Fee is $5 ($8 nonmembers). Registration deadline is April 17.

SAT Prep. In conjunction with the Huntington Learning Center, high school students can take a practice exam at 2 p.m. April 26 at the recreation center. GRANTS

Women of Southwestern PA Inc. is accepting grant applications to benefit children and women in need in Washington, Fayette, Greene, Allegheny, Beaver and Westmoreland counties. Deadline to apply for funding requests up to $3,500 from nonprofit charities and community organizations is April 30.

To qualify, charities must have IRS 501c(3) status, request funds for specific projects which have no state or federal funding and must benefit women or children.

Women of Southwestern PA has disbursed more than $1.3 million during the past 26 years, including more than $130,000 to 47 nonprofits in 2025.

CONCERT

The South Hills Chorale will present its spring concert, Dreamscapes: Songs of Hope and Adventure, at 7 p.m. on May 1 and 1 p.m. May 2 at Christ United Methodist Church, located at 44 Highland Road.

The program explores the universal themes of imagination, perseverance, and the spirit of adventure through a collection of choral works. Audiences will be transported through musical storytelling that ranges from heroic journeys and legendary tales to moments of reflection and inspiration.

SOUTH ARTS

The South Arts Pittsburgh will host a spring artists market from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. May 2-3 at the Schoolhouse Arts & History Center, 2600 South Park Road in Bethel Park.

The market will include local vendors as well as members’ artwork for sale. Artwork and photos are framed and ready to hang.

In addition to original artwork and photography, there will be jewelry, cards and matted prints available.

Reginald’s Coffee will be open to purchase coffee/tea.

Ten percent of sales goes to the Bethel Park Historical Society for continued improvements to the schoolhouse.

COLLEGE CLUB

The College Club of Carnegie will hold a “Celebration of America’s 250th Birthday” themed meeting on May 2 at Scoglio’s Restaurant, 1580 McLaughlin Run Rd. There will be a social at 11:30 a.m. Lunch will be served at noon.

Donated raffle items as well as a 50/50 raffle will be offered to benefit the group’s scholarship fund.

GARDENING

The Giant Oaks Garden Club’s annual plant sale and garden market will be held from 9 a.m. to noon on May 16 at Peters Township Public Library, located at 616 East McMurray Rd.

The sale will highlight a large variety of hanging baskets, annuals, and quality potted perennial plants selected from members’ gardens. Also featured are container gardens of herbs, vegetables, and annuals. The sale also includes new and lightly used gardening items, decorations, and crafts as well as raffle baskets of gardening items. Club members are also available to assist and answer gardening questions from the public.

The event helps fund contributions to many local community groups, including the Peters Township Library, Phipps Conservatory, Western PA Conservancy, Peters Township Meals on Wheels, Pittsburgh Botanic Garden, the National Aviary, and many more. The club also awards $1,500 scholarships to local graduating seniors planning a course of study in gardening.

AQUA PARK

Season passes for the Peters Township Aqua Park can be purchased online at peterstownship.com or by visiting the recreation center. The facility is located at 110 Warriors Way in McMurray and is open Memorial Day through Labor Day.

A season pass, which includes admission for up to four people, is $50 for residents and $100 for nonresidents. Daily admission is $3.50 per person ($7 for nonresident).

The facility is also available for rentals with two-hour time slots with 30 passes. The party room fee is $225 ($450 nonresidents). Shelter fee is $175 ($350 nonresidents). Full facility rental is available from June 1 to July 31 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. for residents only and for a fee of $1,000.

The 26th annual Nora Helfrich Memorial Golf Outing will be held May 21 at Lindenwood Golf Club.

This is the sole fundraiser for Tri-Community South EMS and proceeds will go toward the purchase of a Lucas Device, used when responding to cardiac arrest calls.

The Association of University People (AUP) is looking for new members. The group is open to singles 50 and over who are four-year college graduates.
