Last fall, Tabatha Harding and her family bought a pumpkin from Trax Farm. When the pumpkin was almost dead, 5-year-old Aiden asked if he could smash it. With winter setting in, the Hardings thought nothing of it and let their son smash the pumpkin in the front yard of their Bridgeville home. When June rolled around, there were numerous large green leaves sprouting from the front yard. A mere five weeks later, the first pumpkin appeared. Now, the Hardings’ entire front yard is a pumpkin patch. The current count is 10 pumpkins, with at least 15 more sprouts. Tabatha tends to the pumpkins 10 hours each week, with Aiden assisting for at least five to eight of those hours. “He is so proud of his accomplishment,” said Tabatha, adding: “Be careful smashing pumpkins, you could end up with a pumpkin patch!”
