CHILDCARE Open house
Saint Elizabeth Elementary School, Baldwin, will host an open house from 7 to 8 p.m. April 6. The school offers an educational program from preschool through grade 8. There will be a short presentation at 7 pm in Room 43 for the students and their families that will be entering the middle school.

Bethel Art Guild
The Bethel Art Guild (BAG) will meet at 12:30 p.m. April 6, at the Bethel Park Community Center on Park Avenue. After a light lunch, photographer Jim McNutt, whose career at the Observer-Reporter newspaper spanned more than 45 years, will speak.
Garden club

USC Coterie
Upper St. Clair Coterie will hold its April luncheon, “Shopping with Friends,” at Chartiers Country Club on April 13. Registration and shopping will take place at 11:30 a.m. followed by lunch at noon. Cash bar. Entrée choices include chicken romano or baked stuffed pork chops and come with salad, baked stuffed potato, rolls with butter, and coffee, tea, iced tea and milk. Dessert is strawberry mousse. Hoagie fundraiser
The Bethel Park Band plans a hoagie sale on April 8. Three types will be sold, including regular (ham, salami, bologna, cheese), special (same as regular, but with lettuce and tomato packaged separately) and turkey. Cost is $6 each. Taste of Spring
Reservations are due by April 11 for the Keynotes of South Hills annual Scholarship Benefit Lunch and Fashion Show set for 11:30 a.m. April 22 at Valley Brook Country Club. Fashions by Chico’s of the Galleria. Lunch is $35 per person, payable to Keynotes and mailed to: Paula Bongiorno, 728 Pinetree Road, Pittsburgh, PA 15243. The proceeds will go toward the Keynotes scholarship fund. The next scholarship competition will be held at the Mt. Lebanon High School Theatre on May 20.

Theatre auditions
Little Lake Theatre Company announces auditions April 7 and 8 for children age 6-18 for its 2017 season. Auditions will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday and from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Saturday at the theater, located on Lakeside Drive, Canonsburg. Prepare 32 bars of an up-tempo song. Easter egg hunt
Sunset Hills United Presbyterian Church, located on Country Club Drive in Mt. Lebanon, will hold a free indoor Community Easter Egg Hunt from 10 a.m. to noon April 8, for children of all ages. The egg hunt begins inside the church at 10:30 a.m., along with crafts, face painting, refreshments and more. Afterwards, children can have their photo taken with the Easter Bunny. Spaghetti dinner
Hillcrest Eagles Baseball will hold its inaugural spaghetti dinner and basket raffle from 4 to 7 p.m. April 8, at Hillcrest Christian Academy, located on Bethel Church Road in Bethel Park. The team will honor Coach Dean Hodgdon and dedicate the sports hallway in his name in recognition of his efforts in establishing the baseball program at Hillcrest more than 11 years ago. Baseball players and coaches will also be recognized at the event for their hard work and dedication in representing Hillcrest in the Bethel Church League. Tickets are $8 for adults and $6 for senior citizens and children. Dine in or take out. Career fair
Western Area Career and Technology Center (WACTC), Canonsburg, will host a Career Fair from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. Monday and Tuesday, April 10 and 11. On Monday, employers interested in CNA’s, health assistants, networking, LPN, emergency and protective services, child care, cosmetology and culinary will be on hand. On Tuesday, employers will be scouting for auto mechanics, carpentry, collision repair, electrical, automation robotics and engineering technology, machine shop, masonry, HVAC and welding. Dinner for a Dollar
Community of Christ Church, Bethel Park, will hold Dinner for a Dollar from 5 to 7 p.m. April 13 at the church on South Park Road (between Drake Road and Sunset Drive). The menu will include spaghetti, bread and rolls, garden salad and desserts. Donations of $1 per person or $3 per family are accepted, but not required. Takeout will not be available. Allegheny County Library Association’s Digital Storytelling events, “Immigration Journeys: Old and New,” will be held April 18 in the South Hills, providing the public with a unique perspective from Pittsburgh-based refugees/residents and their struggles to assimilate into our local community. The free event will take place at 6:30 p.m. April 18 at South Park Township Library on Brownsville Road. There will be food from different cultures, music and dance, and information on the different cultures. Pruning demonstration
The Pittsburgh Rose Society will hold its Spring Pruning Demonstration at 1 p.m. April 8, at the Renziehausen Park Arboretum in McKeesport. Rain date is April 22. Rosarians will be in the garden to conduct hands-on pruning demonstrations as well as answer your questions about planting, fertilizing and pest control.
