A fundraising event will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Dec. 15, at Canonsburg Hospital, in the hospital lobby. Featured artist will be J. Annette Designs, handmade jewelry using Swarovski Elements. Twenty percent of the sales will benefit Canonsburg Hospital.
Bethel Park High School will host a community blood drive from 8 a.m to 1:15 p.m. Dec. 19, in the South gymnasium, 309 Church Road. The blood drive will be conducted by Central Blood Bank and is one of four blood drives to be held this school year under the direction of the Principals Advisory Council for Students (PACS). Those interested in donating can call Kathy at the Central Blood Bank at 412-209-7622 to schedule an appointment, or go to either www.centralbloodbank.org or download the Central Blood Bank app and schedule by using Group Code HS010006.
Christmas trees, decorated by local groups, individuals and/or businesses, will be on display through Dec. 16 during regular library hours. Admission is $2 per person, with children under 3 admitted for free. Additional votes can be purchased at the front desk for $1 throughout the festival. All proceeds benefit the library. Contact the library for more information. Christmas tree winners and Chinese auction tickets will be drawn at 11 a.m. Dec. 16.
The Carnegie Performing Arts Center will present “The Nutcracker” Dec. 15-17, at the Andrew Carnegie Music Hall, 300 Beechwood Avenue, Carnegie. Performances are at 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and 2 p.m. Sunday. Tickets, available at the door, are $18 for adults and $15 for seniors and children. Melina Kennelly of Dormont will dance the role of the Sugar Plum Fairy while Danielle Buttlar of Mt. Lebanon will dance the Queen of the Snow. Madisen Albert of Carnegie will portray the part of Clara while Gavin Helbig, also of Carnegie, will be the Nutcracker Prince. Cori Sheppard of Mt. Lebanon will dance the role of Dew Drop Fairy. The Church of the Atonement, 618 Washington Ave., Carnegie, will serve a free dinner from 1 to 3 p.m. Christmas Day, Dec. 25. Shut-ins who live in the neighboring areas are encouraged to call 412-276-0366 by Dec. 20 to place a dinner order, which will be delivered free of charge.
