Preschool program
Mt. Lebanon High School will once again offer a preschool program for 3- and 4-year-olds. To be eligible children must be at least age 3 1/2 by March 1, and 4-year-old children must be no older than 4 years 10 months by March 1. The program is operated by high school students enrolled in the Advanced Child Development Course under the supervision of the child development teacher. Children will attend from 9:10 to 10:40 a.m. Monday-Thursday, March 13-May 25. Cost is $65. Enrollment is limited to 10 children. Deadline for application is Feb. 24. Lensshooters meet
Well-known Pittsburgh photographer Dave DiCello will return to the Lensshooters Camera Club as a guest speaker at the general meeting set for 7 p.m. Feb. 8 in the Peters Township Pubic Library. Known for his spectacular photographs of Pittsburgh, Dave will share images he captured during a recent trip to Colorado. Open to the public.

Quarter Auction
Mt. Lebanon and Dormont fire departments will hold a Quarter Auction Fundraiser for Relay For Life of Mt. Lebanon on Feb. 11 at the Dormont Recreation Center (upstairs of the pool house). During a Quarter Auction, people “bid” to win a product or prize. An entry “fee” donation of $15 includes one numbered paddle, drinks (soda, water, coffee or tea) and a dessert buffet. BYOB and snacks for your table. Additional paddles ($5 each) and raffle tickets will be available for purchase. Bring quarters to bid (3 rolls recommended). ‘Fences’ exhibit
The Pittsburgh Cultural Trust announces the opening of Fences Up Close: A Pittsburgh Story, created in collaboration with Paramount Pictures and director Denzel Washington. The exhibit will be on display in the 1839 Gallery at the August Wilson Center, located on Liberty Avenue, Jan. 28-March 10. An opening reception will take place at 6:30 p.m. Jan. 28 before Michael Phillip Edwards’ performance of “I Am Not Sam,” a one-man identity play about racism. The exhibit and opening reception are free and open to the public. The exhibit features original costumes, props, photography, video of interviews, and a setting from the movie. Pittsburgh’s own Anne Feeney will kick off the February Live Music at Wallace’s TapRoom from 7 to 9 p.m. Feb. 2, in Hotel Indigo, located on North Highland Avenue. No cover charge. Feeney’s bottomless song bag draws on Irish, bluegrass, traditional, labor, pop, folk and contemporary material. Training choir program
Pittsburgh Youth Chorus [PYC] is now accepting registrations for the spring session of its Neighborhood Training Choir program. The spring session is open to any child in first, second and third grades who enjoys singing and music. As a beginning choral experience, the Neighborhood Training Choir program offers an introduction to ensemble singing and music literacy and is designed to introduce parents and children to the Pittsburgh Youth Chorus organization. The 12-week spring session runs Feb. 7-April 25. Neighborhood Training Choirs (NTC) are available in three Pittsburgh neighborhoods. In the South Hills, NTC meets from 6 to 7 p.m. Tuesdays at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Upper St. Clair, with instructor Megan Froehlich. Dinner for a Dollar
Community of Christ, Bethel Park, will hold Dinner for a Dollar from 5 to 7 p.m. Feb. 9. The menu will include spaghetti, bread and rolls, garden salad and desserts. Family bingo night
St. Valentine Church, Bethel Park, will celebrate its 50th anniversary with Family Bingo Night. The event will take place from 7 to 9 p.m. Feb. 10 in Frawley Hall. Admission is free. Auditions
Auditions will be held Feb. 11 for the children’s play “Aladdin” at the studios of the Carnegie Performing Arts Center, located on East Main Street in Carnegie. AgeWell at the Jewish Community Center-South Hills will offer Caregivers Aging Mastery to participants age 55 and older.
