Lebanon, the St. Bernard Forensics team finished with 22 first place awards, six perfect scores, five second place awards and one third place award. St. Bernard’s team received first place overall. About 100 students from eight public and private schools competed in prose, declamation, poetry, multiple reading, drama, impromptu and extemporaneous speaking. Students speak before an unknown judge in two separate rounds for 4 to 8 minutes, depending on the category. For the impromptu and extemporaneous category, students have only 30 minutes to prepare a 2 to 5 minute speech. Also competing were St. Gabes, Mellon Middle School, Peters Middle School, McMurray Elementary, St. John Bosco and Jefferson Middle School. St. Gabriel and Mellon Middle School tied for second place.
