Quick Pix: Rowdy Rhythm performs at the Midwinter Festival

Sixty-five students from Peters Township High School’s music department’s combined choir, Rowdy Rhythm, performed on the international stage at the Midwinter Festival for the Barbershop Harmony Society (BHS) on Jan 20. The choir travelled to San Antonio, Texas, to participate in the Barbershop Harmony Society mass youth choir sing. Rowdy Rhythm’s Friday evening performance astounded the sold-out crowd of over 2,000 at the Lila Cockrell Theater. At the close of the performance, Rowdy Rhythm was met with a standing ovation and recognition throughout the weekend for their singing, onstage surprise costume change, style, energy and groundbreaking show. The group performed again on Saturday as a combined choir composed of all the participating youth singers from across the nation. To complete the experience, Rowdy Rhythm enjoyed a riverboat tour of the Riverwalk, serenading the public up and down the river, delivered an impromptu reprise of its performance at the outdoor theater of La Villita, visited the Alamo and enjoyed the sights and sounds of El Mercado. The group is directed by Ryan Perrotte.
