n Bethel Park Lions Club annual December Citrus Sale has been cancelled. Due to the havoc the hurricanes have caused in Florida and Texas, the Lions can’t be sure of the quality of the citrus. In addition, there has been a substantial increase in price and decrease in sales over the past few years. Bethel Park Lions Club apologizes for any inconvenience. n The Upper St. Clair Parent Teacher Council will host its semiannual Open Mike at 7 p.m. Nov. 8, in the Boyce Middle School theatre. Superintendent of Schools Dr. Patrick T. O’Toole as well as a team of administrators will be on hand to discuss topics of interest, which typically include capital improvement projects, the budget and financial challenges facing the school district; programs and initiatives; and more. n Bethel Park High School will stage “The Heist” as its fall play, at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 9-11 in the high school auditorium on Church Road. The play is a fictionalized account and a cautionary tale about the first armored car robbery that took place in the United States in 1927 in Bethel Park. The play is written and directed by Bethel Park High School English teacher Cortney Falce Williams and features a cast of 27. Tickets are $5 and can be purchased at the door on performance nights. Advance tickets will be sold from 8 to 10 a.m. Nov. 2 and 3, as well as Nov. 6 and 7 in the high school lobby.
n Christian Mothers Altar Society of Holy Rosary Church, Muse, will no longer hold an Election Day Spaghetti Dinner because of lack of volunteers and the work involved in preparing for the event.
n Bethel Park Independence Middle School Student Council and students who are a part of the Bring A Smile To The Service organization invite all veterans and current military personnel to a pancake-and-sausage breakfast that will be held in their honor, from 9 to 11 a.m. Nov. 10, in the Independence Middle School Library Commons, 2807 Bethel Church Road.
