Story hour

Alpha Omega Masters

Tinsel Luncheon

The Giant Oaks Garden Club will hold its Tinsel Luncheon on Nov. 3 at the Hilton Garden Inn-Southpointe. The event will include a floral design presentation with creations available through a drawing, raffle baskets, 40+ vendors and door prizes. Lens shooters meet

Christmas affair

John McMillan Presbyterian Church, Bethel Park, will host its annual Christmas Affair from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Nov. 4, featuring more than 55 crafters, Gingerbread House, Chinese auction, SHIM’s Angel Emporium Tree and the Kris Kringle Kafe. Rummage-Recycling Sale

Fall Rummage-Recycling Sale will be held Nov. 10 and 11 at Westminster Presbyterian Church, Upper St. Clair. Collection day will be on Friday, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Sale day is Saturday, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. (closed from noon to 12:30 p.m. for lunch; bag and half-price sale begins at 12:30). Night at the Races

Our Lady of Grace School, Scott, will host a Night at the Races on Nov. 3, in Miller Pavillion (gym). The $20 admission fee includes a buffet dinner and drinks. Dinner is served at 6 p.m. followed by the horse races at 7. Forms for reservations, sponsorship or to purchase horses can be found on the school website, www.olgscott.net. Attendance is not required to purchase horses.

Spaghetti dinner

Trinity United Methodist Church, McMurray, will hold its annual spaghetti dinner and bake sale from 4 to 7:30 p.m. Nov. 4 in the church’s Fellowship Hall. Dinner cost is $7 for adults and $4 for children ages 4-12. Children under the age of 4 are free. Choose meat and/or vegetarian sauce. Take-outs available. Proceeds benefit Trinity’s outreach ministries, including the Appalachia Service Project, a Christian ministry that repairs homes in need in rural Central Appalachia. Concert/benefit

Come Together concert and benefit for Hekima Place, a home for orphaned and vulnerable girls in Kenya, will be held from 7 to 10 p.m. Nov. 4, at Our Clubhouse, 2816 Smallman Street, Pittsburgh. The event will feature music by Come Together, Pittsburgh’s premier Beatles tribute band, BRGR food truck, African cuisine, an auction and more. Her Story Seminar

Four women will tell their life stories to encourage and inspire you to tell yours. Her Story Seminar will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturdays, Nov. 4, 11 and 18, at Castle Shannon Public Library. Speakers will include: Mary Anne Hutchin, mother of six; Mary Werling, retired Erie teacher; Mary Foster, southern lady; and Mary Jean White, Bethel Park teacher. Each Saturday will include one season of life. Come for one or all three. The seminars, free for all women, will be facilitated by Marvel Timm, retired pastor.

Living history

The Oliver Miller Homestead, A 1794 Whiskey Rebellion Site located on Stone Manse Drive in South Park, will hold an Evening at Mansfield from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. Nov. 5. The home will be illuminated with candles, and there will be warm cider and baked goods, including Thomas Jefferson’s muffins from his recipe. Admission is $2.
