Boy Scout Troop #2 held an Eagle Court of Honor ceremony on Oct. 1, at Bethany Presbyterian Church in Bridgeville. Matthew Smith was recognized as the newest Eagle Scout of Troop #2. The ceremony was attended by several local dignitaries who presented awards and recognitions to the new Eagle. Every potential Eagle Scout must complete a special community service project as the last hurdle to attaining his Eagle rank. Matthew’s project consisted of renovating the athletic field entrance area and bleacher seating area of Our Lady Of Grace Church in Scott Township. Matthew is the third member of the local Smith family to achieve this highest scout ranking. The Elks presented Award certificates, a personal U.S. Flag, and an Elks/Scouting gold lapel pin to Matthew in recognition of his achievement.
