Jack Urso and Adam Kusluch of Boy Scout Troop #4, based out of St. Louise de Marillac Church in Upper St. Clair, received recognition for attaining the rank of Eagle Scout at a ceremony held Oct. 22 at the church. Both scouts received many letters of recognition from national, state and local government leaders and dignitaries. Gene Eckman, an Elks representative from the Pittsburgh South Hills Elks Lodge #2213 in Bethel Park, presented framed Award Certificates from Lodge 2213 and also from the Elks Grand Lodge in Chicago, a U.S. Flag and an Elks/Scouting gold pin to each of the new scouts. Each scout must complete an Eagle Project that benefits the community before obtaining this highest ranking in Boy Scouts. Jack’s Eagle Project benefited military personnel serving abroad. It consisted of going to various local businesses and collecting/buying personal items then assembling 150 care packages, which were presented to the Air National Guard members upon deployment in May of this year. Adam’s Eagle Project benefited the Bethel Park Lion’s Club. It consisted of refurbishing a wooded trail, creating an arboretum by labeling various trees along the trail, and building and erecting entrance signs for the trail.
