Looking Back

Among Bryson Schreiner’s papers was this picture labeled “The Doctor’s Aid, Thanksgiving Day 1894.” This was probably “Old Doc” Schreiner’s buggy that took him on calls all over the South Hills. He charged $2 for a house call and $10 to deliver a baby. An old Liberty Ledger article said the doctor’s “horse and buggy never adorned the hitching posts of the saloons between Pittsburgh and Mt. Lebanon.”
