Historical society

The Peters Creek Historical Society will host a holiday social for members and invited guests at 6:30 p.m. Nov. 27, at Wrights United Methodist Church, 788 Venetia Road, Venetia. Finger foods, covered dishes and hors d’oeurves brought by members will be served. The annual “Soup and Stroll” open house will be held from noon to 4:30 p.m. Dec. 3, at the historic Enoch Wright House, Venetia. A homemade soup supper to include dessert, bread and beverage will be served in the charm and ambiance of a 19th century Christmas. Cost is $8 for adults and $5 for children age 9 and under. Genealogy Society

RSVP by Dec. 5 for Genealogy Society of Southwestern Pennsylvania’s Annual General Membership Meeting and Holiday Luncheon set for Dec. 16 at Citizen’s Library (downstairs), 55 South College Street, Washington. Park Burroughs, chief editor of the Observer-Reporter from 1988 to 2012, will speak on the series he has written for the newspaper. Arts and crafts vendors are being accepted for Mt. Lebanon United Methodist Church Christmas Cookie and Gift Bazaar set for 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Dec. 9. The event features homemade Christmas cookies for sale by the pound, a British tea room and gift basket raffle. Lottery Calendar sale
