At Christ United Methodist Church, Bethel Park, A Night In Old Bethlehem will be held on Dec. 6. Step back in time to an interactive Bible-times marketplace in Bethlehem and explore the city at the time of Jesus’ birth through hands-on experiences and a journey into the hills of Bethlehem. Dinner will be available from 5 to 6:30 p.m. at a cost of $5 per person or $15 per family (immediate family only). The Marketplace will be open from 5:45 to 7 p.m. and the Journey will be open from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Event cost: one canned good per family will be collected by the tax collector and will be donated to South Hills Interfaith Ministry (SHIM). At Community of Christ Church, Bethel Park, a live nativity is planned from 6 to 9 p.m. Dec. 9. Volunteers are needed to help set up that day and are also needed the week prior to get costumes ready, do repairs and fill luminary jars. At Mount Lebanon Evangelical Presbyterian Church, the 10th annual Christmas Cantata will be held at 3:30 p.m. Dec. 3. The cantata choir of 60 plus singers and full orchestra will present this free concert “goodwill offering received.” A dessert reception will follow. The theme of this inspiring Christmas work by Lloyd Larson is “joy.” The music in Sing Joy To All The World incorporates original melodies with familiar carols in a work ranging from contemplative to celebratory. MLEPC is located at the corner of Washington and Scott Roads.

• Rev. Carolyn Poteet, interim pastor of MLEPC, will share an advent sermon series highlighting “Lessons in Carols” beginning Dec. 3. Look at some of the most beloved Christmas carols and study the scripture and theology behind each one. There will be a study guide to go along with the series, which can be used as a family devotion during the holiday season. Contemporary service is at 9 a.m. and the Traditions Heritage service is at 11:15.

At Peters Creek Evangelical Presbyterian Church (meeting at St. David’s Episcopal Church Parish Hall, 905 E. McMurray Road, Venetia), Bible Study, is held at 6:30 p.m. Wednesdays at Beinhauers Community Room, McMurray. The evening begins with a meal followed by a study of the book “Simple Church” by Thom S. At Ruthfred Lutheran Church, 3401 South Park Road, Bethel Park, GriefShare is offered from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Mondays, through Dec. 11. The 11-week grief support group is for those grieving the loss of a loved one. There is no cost to attend, but registration is required to assure ample supplies are ordered. At Saint Anne Church, Castle Shannon, a free presentation by author Christopher Reibold titled “What are relics and what meaning do they have for Catholics?” will be presented at 7 p.m. Nov. 30, in Harkins Hall. Reibold is the author of “The Saints at the Chapel: Thrilling Tales of History’s Holiest Heroes.” He will also discuss the relics at St. Anthony’s Chapel and share stories about the saints behind the relics. At South Hills Assembly of God, Bethel Park, Gospel Women Prayer Group meets at 6:30 p.m. Nov. 30.

• Divorce Care support group, for those going through separation or divorce, meets at 7 p.m. Wednesdays in the library of Hillcrest Christian Academy, 2500 Bethel Church Road.

• Grief Share, 10 a.m. to noon or 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Thursdays, through Dec. 7. Find help for the grieving process through this Bible-based support group. Class consists of DVD teaching followed by discussion and sharing. Join anytime and return for any of the classes you missed. Registration is $15 and includes workbook.
