Fall Fest

Bedner Farm and Greenhouse, McDonald, has brought back its annual Fall Fest for the month of October. Pick a pumpkin from the patch and navigate through a two-acre corn maze. There will also be face painting, balloon art, hayrides, zipline, pumpkin launch and live music by local accordionist and news personality Pat Septak. This month-long, family friendly celebration runs from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. every weekend from now until Halloween. For more information, visit www.bendersgreenhouse.com.

Halloween Trail

Allegheny Health Network’s Canonsburg Hospital, part of Allegheny Health Network, will hold its annual Halloween Trail from 4 to 5:30 p.m. Oct. 19 for children ages 12 and under at the hospital’s outdoor trail. With more than 20 stops along the way, the kids will encounter “haunted hosts” from Canonsburg Hospital, as well as representatives from local businesses and the United States military, who will be distributing treats while dressed in costume. The event is free, and complimentary parking is available. Treats, bags and candy will be provided, and AHN also will be giving away fidget spinners. In the event of inclement weather, the Halloween Trail will be held indoors at Canonsburg Hospital.

Freaky Friday

Freaky Friday will be held Oct. 20 at the Upper St. Clair Community & Recreation Center at Boyce-Mayview Park. At 10 a.m. there will be a free costume parade with treats, crafts and entertainment. An all-ages Scary Swim and spooky crafts will be held from 6 to 8 p.m., at a cost of $8 per person age 2 and up. For more information, call 412-221-1099.

Halloween Night Walk

Washington County Department of Parks & Recreation will hold a Halloween Night Walk on the Panhandle Trail Oct. 20. The luminary-lit walk will begin at the McDonald Trail Station at 7 p.m. Children are encouraged to dress in their Halloween costumes for the walk, which ends at 8. “Tricks and treats” will be provided to children ages 11 and under as they walk a portion of the trail lit with luminaries, glowing pumpkins and campfires. There is no fee, but registration is required as space is limited. To register, call 724-228-6867. The McDonald Trail Station is located at 160 South McDonald Street.

“Jigsaw” Blood Drive

Central Blood Bank will hold a Give ‘Til it Hurts Blood Drive from noon to 7 p.m. Oct. 24 at its donor center at 429 Fourth Ave., Downtown Pittsburgh. The event will include a special guest appearance from a SAW movie character between 4 and 7 p.m. All participating donors will receive a free ticket to see Jigsaw, opening later that week. Costumes are encouraged. In preparation for their donation, donors are asked to eat well, stay hydrated and arrive with proper identification. Donors must be at least 18 years old (16 and 17 years of age with parental consent). Proper ID is required to donate blood. A Central Blood Bank or military ID, driver’s license or employee badge with a picture and full name are all approved forms of ID. A birth certificate along with a picture ID that includes the donor’s full name will also be accepted.

Trick or Treat Parade

North Strabane Rehabiliation & Wellness Center, 100 Tandem Village Road, Canonsburg, will hold a Kids Trick or Treat Parade at 6 p.m. Oct. 25, featuring refreshments and costume prizes.

Trunk or Treat

• Christ United Methodist Church, Bethel Park, Family Harvest Night featuring Trunk or Treat will be held from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Oct. 25. Dinner begins at 5 p.m. ($5 per person or $15 per family). Games and crafts follow from 5:30 to 6 p.m. in the Community Square. Trunk or Treat through the halls of the church beginning at 6 p.m., ending the evening with cider and donuts near the campfire in the Worship Garden. Costumes encouraged (no scary costumes). Adults can join in the fun by decorating a doorway or table and passing out treats. RSVP required by calling 412-835-6621 or visiting www.christumc.net/trunkortreat.

• Mt. Lebanon Evangelical Presbyterian Church, at Washington and Scott roads, will hold Trunk or Treat on Oct. 28, following the Mt. Lebanon Pumpkin Patch parade. Trunks of cars will each be decorated as a different Bible story. There will be free grilled hot dogs, cider and candy. For more information, visit MLEPC.org or call 412-531-3387.

• Bethel Presbyterian Church will hold its annual Trunk or Treat from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Oct. 29, in the rear parking lot, for preschool through primary school-age children in costume. Children are asked to bring their own bags. Games and refreshments will be offered inside the church.

• Trinity United Methodist Church, Center Church Road, McMurray, will hold Trunk or Treat from 2 to 3 p.m. Oct. 28, for children in sixth grade and younger. There will be trick-or-treating, a costume parade, and pumpkin and cookie decorating. For more information, call 724-941-4770.
