Meals on Wheels set to celebrate grand opening at new McMurray location

Meals on Wheels of Peters Township will host “Dishin’ with Meals on Wheels” from 6 to 9 p.m. Nov. 14 at its new McMurray location.
The open house is to celebrate the program’s relocation to the former Sirena Taco restaurant in Donaldson’s Crossroads shopping center and offer the public an opportunity to learn about Meals on Wheels.
The evening will feature a sampling of appetizers from local restaurants, wine, homemade desserts and musicians, along with optional raffle baskets and silent auction items. Admission is free and open to the public.
The independent, nonprofit program delivering meals to senior citizens opened at its new location Aug. 28 after three weeks of renovations and moving. The facility is located at the opposite end of the shopping center from Giant Eagle. Guests for the open house should enter through the glass doors under the Little Gym sign and walk to the back of the atrium.
Meals on Wheels of Peters Township also will unveil the program’s new name and logo during the Nov. 14 open house. The organization serves residents living in McMurray, Venetia, Canonsburg, Houston, Finleyville, Eighty Four, Bridgeville and neighboring communities.
“Our new name will reflect the program’s regional and inclusive nature,” director Susan Hanawalt said.
