At Bower Hill Community Church, 50 Moffett St., Mt. Lebanon, “Discover-Connect-Serve” will take place at 10:30 a.m. Oct. 1 in Fellowship Hall, after the 9:30 worship service. This casual event is an opportunity to “discover” volunteer opportunities and “connect” with the church’s outreach ministries. Leaders and volunteers who currently “serve” in various ministries will be on hand to share information.

At Center Presbyterian Church, McMurray, hurricane relief buckets are now being filled for shipment to Texas and Florida. Needed are cleaning supplies, paper towels and rubber gloves. A complete list of approved items is available at the church.

At Mt. Lebanon Evangelical Presbyterian Church, corner of Washington and Scott roads, Pastor Carolyn Poteet (interim pastor) preaches on Paul’s letter to the Ephesians this fall. There will be small group discussion groups that will further explore the “Spiritual Riches” in the book of Ephesians using a study guide. • Fired-up Friday, a drop-off program, is held from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. the first Friday of each month for kids in kindergarten through fifth grade. Preregister one time only online. At Peters Creek Evangelical Presbyterian Church, Sunday worship is held at 11 a.m. at St. David’s Episcopal Parish Hall, 905 E. McMurray Road, Venetia. Sunday school is at 9:45 a.m. for all ages.

At Ruthfred Lutheran Church, 3401 South Park Road, Bethel Park, GriefShare will be offered from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Mondays, Oct. 2-Dec. 11. The 11-week grief support group is for those grieving the loss of a loved one. There is no cost to attend, but registration is required to assure ample supplied are ordered. At St. Anne Parish, Castle Shannon, the six-week Adult Education Series “Prayer: Finding Intimacy with God” will be offered from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. or 6:30 to 7:45 p.m. Thursdays, Oct. 12-Nov. 16. • Miracle Healing Service, 7 p.m. Oct. 2. Music by Healing Waters Praise Team. Fast and pray; bring the sick and afflicted.

• Grief Share, 10 a.m. to noon or 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Thursdays, through Dec. 7, for those morning the loss of a loved one. This Bible-based support group and class consists of DVD teaching followed by discussion and sharing with others also on the grief journey. Join anytime and return for any missed classes. Registration fee of $15 includes a workbook.

At St. Bernard Parish, Mt. Lebanon, the Bible study session entitled: “James: Pearls for Wise Living” by Jeff Cavins and Sarah Christmyer, is held from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Mondays, through Nov. 20, in Clairvaux Hall. It is geared toward anyone who has struggled to live a truly Christian life, and offers practical solutions for handling everyday circumstances. Fee is $25.
