St. Clair Hospital medical oncologist and hematologist Dr. Vincent E. Reyes Jr. has the last of his beard shaved by Sam Caruso (at left) and his brother Tony Caruso, co-owners of Caruso On Vanadium, a hair and esthetics shop in Scott Township on March 21. Reyes was one of about 30 physicians who grew beards during March to raise awareness for colon cancer prevention and to raise money for the St. Clair Hospital Foundation Cancer Fund. The fund helps St. Clair patients with paying for prescription drugs, transportation and yoga classes, among other things. Seventeen other St. Clair physicians joined Reyes at Caruso’s that evening for complimentary shaves and haircuts from the Carusos and their staff. The Carusos volunteered their services as a thank you to St. Clair Hospital for the recent cancer care two of their relatives received at the hospital.
