Senior lunch/movie

Mt. Lebanon Recreation Department will hold a senior luncheon and movie matinee on April 17, at the Rec Center, 2nd Floor (Room A), for all seniors and their adult guests (Mt. Lebanon residency not required). Check-in is at 10:30 a.m. in the Rec Office. At 11 there will be a presentation from UPMC’s “Move It or Lose It” program. A hot buffet lunch will be served at noon followed by a movie on the big screen. Cost is $7 per person due by noon on April 13. After that date, the cost will increase to $9. Seniors lunch

Chabad of the South Hills, Mt. Lebanon, will hold a seniors lunch at noon on April 17. The event will also include a senior health presentation. Suggested donation is $5. To register, call 412-278-2658.

Retired Men meet

The Retired Men’s Luncheon Group will meet at noon on April 19, at Pleasant Hills Presbyterian Church, 199 Old Clairton Road. Speaker Jack Puglisil will share the history of Winston Churchill. Cost of lunch is $8, payable at the door. To make a lunch reservation, call 412-655-2000.

Fitness classes

WROC at Westminster Presbyterian Church, Upper St. Clair, will offer Fitness for Seniors 55+ beginning the first week of March. Classes include: Strong Bodies – Strong Bones, 9 to 9:50 a.m. Wednesdays, through April 25; Gentle Yoga Morning & Evening Class, 6 to 7 p.m. Mondays and 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesdays, through April 18; Arthritis Foundation Exercise, 9:30 to 10:20 a.m. Mondays and 10 to 10:50 a.m. Wednesdays, through April 25; Tai Chi, 11:15 a.m. to noon Wednesdays, through April 25. Chair dance class

Senior chair dance classes are offered from 11:30 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. Mondays at the Peters Township Recreation Center for those age 60 and over. Class begins with a warm up stretch followed by a fun dance routine. Cost is $60 for members and $90 for non-members. For information, visit www.peterstownship.com.

Pickleball

The Community & Recreation Center at Boyce Mayview Park, Upper St. Clair, offers beginner pickleball play from 1 to 3:30 p.m. Mondays, and intermediate/advanced pickleball play from 1 to 3:30 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays. To learn more, call the C&RC at 412-221-1099.

Chair exercises

Chair Exercises for Seniors takes place from 11 a.m. to noon Tuesdays at Scott Township Library. To register, call 412-429-5380.

TOPS

Enjoy contests and speakers while losing weight for $5 per month with TOPS (Take off Pounds Sensibly) Chapter 75. The group meets from 7 to 8 p.m. Tuesdays at Carnegie Retirement Residence, Railroad Avenue. Weigh-ins at 6 p.m. For more information, call Francis at 412-818-7489.

Theater-minded seniors

Better Than Ever Independents, also known as the Sassy Seniors, is a theatrical group that performs vaudeville-type shows at nursing homes, AARP meetings and more. New members age 50 and older are needed. For more information, email jangary2@hotmail.com.

Dormont AARP

Dormont AARP #3016 meets the second Thursday of each month throughout the year at Unity Presbyterian Church, 1146 Greentree Road. All seniors age 55 and older and new members are welcome. Doors open at 11:30 a.m. A meeting follows at noon. Activities include entertainment, speakers, pancake brunch, covered dish dinner, annual picnic, fundraisers and travel opportunities.
