Jeans & Jewels Gala

University Veterinary Specialists’ UVS Cares Foundation, which helps families with little or no financial resources to cover the cost of emergency care for their pets, will host its second annual Jeans & Jewels Gala to raise funds to serve its mission of “Saving Pets’ Lives and Owners’ Hearts.” The event will be held from 6 to 10 p.m. May 18, at St. Clair Country Club. Pittsburgh Opera concludes its 2017-18 season with Donizetti’s “L’elisir d’amore — The Elixir of Love,” a romantic comedy about a traveling medicine show huckster who claims to possess a love potion. Student talent showcase

Bethel Park High School will stage Telerama, its annual student talent showcase, at 7:30 p.m. May 4 and 5, in the Bethel Park High School auditorium at 309 Church Road. Arts Fest/STEAM Expo

Live theater

City Theatre Company presents the second-ever production of “The White Chip” by Sean Daniels. A highly-theatrical and often comic journey through Daniels’ real-life struggles with alcoholism, the play features a cast of three: one actor who plays Sean, and two who represent the various voices of reason-and chaos-in his life. Black lung testing

The event will include health assessments, pulmonary screenings, pulse oximetry testing, benefits counseling and assistance with federal Black Lung applications. Alzheimer’s Association Caregiver Support Group will meet from noon to 1 p.m. April 26, at Westminster Presbyterian Church, Upper St. Clair, for caregivers of someone with Alzheimer’s disease or a related dementia. Beginning Yoga
