Horses Unlimited, South Park, will hold a Pony Camp from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Aug. 6-9, for beginner riders ages 5 to 11. No experience necessary. Activities include: learning to groom (and bathe), saddle, bridle and ride a pony; how to feed and care for horses; “horsey” arts and crafts; blacksmith and veterinary demonstrations. Camp is limited to 12 children. Fee is $335 per child. Athletic passes for both students and adults are now on sale for Upper St. Clair School District sports fans. The Ultimate Panther Pass covers general admission to all regular season, home athletic events for all boys’ and girls’ sports. Mt. Lebanon Public Library’s ninth annual Beer Garden Bash fundraiser will be held from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Aug. 25, featuring more than two dozen craft beers. The library-courtyard event, sponsored by the Friends of the Mt. Lebanon Library, will feature ales, lagers, ciders and soft drinks, along with gourmet bratwurst, hot dogs and veggie dogs, plus other treats and steel drum music. Tickets are on sale at http://www.mtlebanonlibrary.org/beergarden and at the front desk for the all-inclusive price of $35 – or $50 for those wishing to make a larger tax-deductible gift to the library. All proceeds will be donated to support books and programs at the library. The number of tickets is limited, and tickets will not be sold at the door. The event is open to adults 21 and over. Operation Troop Appreciation, a Pittsburgh-based charity that ships requested items to deployed troops once a month and assists displaced veterans once they are home, is accepting donations of gently-used costume jewelry for its fundraiser sale set for Nov. 9 and 10 at the South Park Community Center on Brownsville Road.
