An event to get teenagers interested in the voting process is planned for 5 to 7 p.m. Feb. 7 at Pizzaz Italian Restaurant in McMurray. Anyone not yet registered to vote is welcome to stop by the restaurant lounge, enjoy free pizza and register to vote. This nonpartisan event is hosted by Justin Corbin, 18, of Upper St. Clair, who started the political consulting firm Jumpstart Strategies to get teens involved in the election process.

Westminster Presbyterian Church, Upper St. Clair, will hold Rise Against Hunger on Feb. 10, with two-hour shifts beginning at 8:30 or 10:30 a.m. Volunteer to package meals for hungry children around the world. Small meal packets containing rice, soy, dehydrated vegetables, and a flavoring mix including 21 essential vitamins and minerals will be assembled for Rise Against Hunger, an international hunger relief agency. Mt. Lebanon Fire Department and St. Clair Hospital will co-sponsor a blood drive for American Heart Month from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Feb. 10 at the Mt. Lebanon Fire Department’s second-floor training center, 555 Washington Road. Nurses will share information on cardiovascular health and stroke screening, as well as information about the hospital’s new cardiac valve clinic. ML firefighters will share ways to help make heart emergencies preventable and survivable, including information on fitness, CPR and use of the automated external defibrillators. Coalition for Leadership, Education and Advocacy for Recovery (CLEAR) will hold Process Addictions: Food, Gambling & Sex Addictions on Feb. 14, in the Fellowship Hall (lower level) at Christ Church at Grove Farm, 249 Duff Road, Sewickley. Registration and breakfast will be at 8:30 a.m. followed by Process Addictions presentation from 9 to 11 and a nutrition presentation from 11 a.m. to noon. Those with substance abuse disorders often have multiple addictions that become more prominent after being sober from alcohol and other drugs. The February meeting of the Youth Steering Committee of Upper St. Clair will move from Feb. 14 to Feb. 21. Time and location will remain the same, 7 p.m. in the USC Rec Center. This meeting will be a general voting session.
