Veterans program receives grant

1 min read

Travelers Aid announced that it has received a $75,000 grant from the Gaming Economic Development Fund (GEDF) through the Commonwealth Financing Authority. Administered by the Redevelopment Authority of Allegheny County, the program provides financial assistance for entities in the county to facilitate economic development projects.

The funding will be used for the Veterans Transportation Assistance Program, connecting veterans with transportation to access jobs, appointments and other needs.

Veterans receiving services from partnering agencies work with Travelers Aid to remove transportation barriers for participants. The program is funded by the United Way and a host of other private funding sources. Partnering agencies include the Veterans Leadership Program, VA Healthcare System in Aspinwall, Veterans Place of Washington Boulevard, and Shepherd’s Heart.
