Bethel Art Guild

The Bethel Art Guild will meet on Thursday, March 1, at the Bethel Park Community Center, 5151 Park Ave., to finish planning for the “Galleria Art Show”, which runs March 2-11 at the The Galleria of Mt Lebanon. Garden club

Flea market/bake sale

Craft/vendor show

Saint Elizabeth Elementary School, Baldwin, will hold its annual fall craft and vendor show from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. March 3, in the gym. There will be more than 50 tables plus a 50/50 raffle and Chinese auction. Refreshments will be available.

Dinner auction

Purchase tickets by March 2 for Our Lady of Grace Catholic School’s 19th annual dinner auction “Once Upon a Time,” set for March 17 at the Hyatt Regency, Pittsburgh International Airport. The event will include dining and dancing. The evening will begin at 6 p.m. with a silent auction and mobile bidding during cocktail hour. Spaghetti dinner

Fix ‘Ur Cat will hold its annual spaghetti dinner fundraiser on Friday, March 9, at Western Area Career Technology Center, 688 Western Avenue, Canonsburg. The menu includes spaghetti with marinara or meat sauce, salad, dinner roll, cookies, and lemonade or water (soft drinks and coffee will be available for purchase). Lunch is from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., takeout begins at 3 and dinner is from 4 to 7 p.m. Food will be prepared by WACTC’s culinary arts department. There will also be an auction and bake sale. Tickets are $10, and all profits benefit Low Cost Spay/Neuter Washington County. BASH fundraiser

The Black Association of South Hills for Women (BASH) will present its scholarship fundraiser luncheon from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, March 24, at the Double Tree by Hilton Meadowlands Hotel, 340 Racetrack Road, Washington. This year’s fundraising theme is “Forty and Fabulous.” Vendors will be set up an hour prior the start of the luncheon. Health symposium

Phipps Conservatory and Botanical Gardens will host the 2018 One Health One Planet symposium March 7 and 8. An opening reception will take place from 5 to 9 p.m. Friday. Dinner for a Dollar

Community of Christ Church, 3472 South Park Road, Bethel Park, will hold Dinner for a Dollar from 5 to 7 p.m. March 8. The menu will include spaghetti, bread and rolls, garden salad and desserts. Mystical psychic fair

A mystical psychic fair will be held from noon to 5 p.m. March 11, in the Home Economics Building, 1900 Brownsville Road, South Park (behind the Allegheny County Police Station). In addition to vendors, the event will include a free lecture titled “The Benefits of Hypnosis & the Science Behind It,” a message from the “other side” with Marjorie Rivera Kain (not everyone is guaranteed a message and seating is limited), and Rivera Kain will teach the workshop “Ask your Akashic Guide” (dress comfortably). Admission to the event is $5 at the door. Tickets for the message circle or workshop are $30 in advance and $35 at the door. Monongahela Valley Hospital continues its Innovations in Medicine programming with a three-part Living Well Series on Orthopedics. The series kicks-off on March 5 with Mark Hofbauer, D.P.M., and “Innovations in Foot and Ankle Surgery.” On March 12, Scott Baron, M.D., will discuss “Advanced Treatment Options for Knee Pain.” Eric Nabors, M.D., finishes the series on March 26 with “Back Pain and Disc Degeneration.” The programs begin at 6 p.m. in the Anthony M. Irish genealogy

Irish genealogy experts Fintan Mullan and Gillian Hunt from the Ulster Historical Foundation in Belfast, Ireland, will visit the Senator John Heinz History Center from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. March 4 to present an in-depth Irish Genealogy Workshop highlighting the rich genealogical sources found in Ireland. This instructional and hands-on workshop will also include helpful research tips for beginners and seasoned researchers alike from the History Center’s Detre Library & Archives, the Westmoreland County Historical Society, and numerous local genealogical societies. Participants can also attend a special curator-led tour of the History Center’s Irish American collection on display within the museum’s fourth floor Special Collections Gallery. The workshop costs $40 for regular visitors and $30 for History Center and Westmoreland County Historical Society members. Box lunches are available for an additional $10.95. Art classes

Classes are now forming for a five-week session of Spring Fun art classes at Art Encounters Studio, located at In His Presence Church, 251 Brookwood Road, Venetia. Classes, geared toward students age 6 and up, will be held from 2 to 3:15 p.m. or 3:30 to 4:45 p.m. Tuesdays, March 13-April 10. The cost for the five-week class is $65 and includes all materials.
