The Youth Steering Committee of Upper St. Clair will hold “Adolescents and Vaping” from 7 to 8 p.m. Jan. 10, at the Community & Recreation Center at Boyce Mayview Park, on Mayview Road. Presented by USC School Police, the discussion will include how vapes are used, the school district’s policy on vaping, common terminology, and information to inform parents of what to look and listen for with their children.

Peters Township announces an upcoming road closure. Turkeyfoot Road, between Sagewood Drive and McClelland Road, will be closed the week of Jan. 15 for hazardous tree removal. Detour signs will be posted.

Peters Township will hold a public hearing at 7:30 p.m. Jan. 15, to get input from residents on the proposed Master Plan for Rolling Hills Park, a new community park to be developed on half of the old Rolling Hills property. Michael Neiberg returns to the Peters Township Public Library at 7 p.m. Jan. 18 for America in War and Peace, the final program in the World War I and America series presented in partnership with VFW Memorial Park Post 764 and the Veterans Breakfast Club. Neiberg will examine the role of the United States in winning the war and shaping the postwar peace. He is the inaugural chair of War Studies in the Department of National Security and Strategy at the United States Army War College. His published work specializes on the First and Second World Wars, notably the American and French experiences. The Wall Street Journal named his “Dance of the Furies: Europe and the Outbreak of World War I” one of the five best books ever written about the First World War. The Bethel Park Music Department will hold a hoagie sale Jan. 20, featuring three types of hoagies: Regular, Special and Turkey. Cost is $6 per hoagie. Mission hoagies, which are made the day of the sale and then donated to help feed three local missions, are also available for purchase. Future sales will be held Feb. 17 and April 14, 2018.
