Fitness for seniors

Westminster Recreation & Outreach Center at Westminster Presbyterian Church, Upper St. Clair, offers Fitness for Seniors (55+). Classes include: Strong Bodies – Strong Bones, 9 to 9:50 a.m. Wednesdays, Jan. 10-Feb. 28; Gengle Yoga Morning & Evening Class, 6 to 7 p.m. Mondays and 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesdays, through Feb. 22; Arthritis Foundation Exercise, 9:30 to 10:20 a.m. Mondays and 10 to 10:50 a.m. Wednesdays, through Feb. 28; Tai Chi, 11:15 a.m. to noon Wednesdays, Jan. 10-Feb. 28. Brunch/movie

Mt. Lebanon Recreation Department will offer a senior brunch and movie matinee on Jan. 16, at the Rec Center, 2nd Floor, Room A, for all seniors and their adult guests (Mt. Lebanon residency not required). Check-in is at 10:30 a.m. in the Rec Office. State Rep. Dan Miller will give a presentation at 11. Brunch will be served at noon followed by a 50/50 raffle and movie on the big screen. Cost of $7 per person is due by noon on Jan. 12. Those registering after that date will pay $9. Retired Men meet

The Retired Men’s Luncheon Group will meet on Jan. 18 at the Pleasant Hills Presbyterian Church, Pleasant Hills. Lunch is at noon, followed by speaker Edd Hale, who will discuss the history of the Brig Niagara, a ship from the war of 1812. Cost of lunch is $ 8, payable at the door. Seniors lunch

Chabad of the South Hills, Mt. Lebanon, will hold a seniors lunch at noon on Jan. 23. There will be a presentation by the Mt. Lebanon Fire Department and a special Tu B’Shevat program to celebrate the “new year of the trees.” Suggested donation is $5. To preregister, call 412-278-2658 or email barb@chabadsh.com.

TOPS

Enjoy contests and speakers while losing weight for $5 per month with TOPS (Take off Pounds Sensibly) Chapter 75. The group meets from 7 to 8 p.m. Tuesdays at Carnegie Retirement Residence, Railroad Avenue. Weigh-ins at 6 p.m. For more information, call Francis at 412-818-7489.

Pickleball

The Community & Recreation Center at Boyce Mayview Park, Upper St. Clair, offers beginner pickleball play from 1 to 3:30 p.m. Mondays, and intermediate/advanced pickleball play from 1 to 3:30 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays. To learn more, call the C&RC at 412-221-1099.

Chair exercises

Chair Exercises for Seniors takes place from 11 a.m. to noon Tuesdays at Scott Township Library. To register, call 412-429-5380.

Theater-minded seniors

Better Than Ever Independents, also known as the Sassy Seniors, is a theatrical group that performs vaudeville-type shows at nursing homes, AARP meetings and more. New members age 50 and older are needed. For more information, email jangary2@hotmail.com.

Dormont AARP

Dormont AARP #3015 meets the second Thursday of each month throughout the year at Unity Presbyterian Church, 1146 Greentree Road. All seniors age 55 and older and new members are welcome. Doors open at 11:30 a.m. A meeting follows at noon. Activities include entertainment, speakers, pancake brunch, covered dish dinner, annual picnic, fundraisers and travel opportunities.
