1. The South Central Areas Special Schools Committee will hold its 2017-18 meetings on the third Wednesday of each month with the exceptions of July and December. The meetings will be held at 7 p.m. at The Pathfinder School, 50 Donati Road, Bethel Park, in room 151. Meetings dates are: Jan. 17, Feb. 21, March 21, April 18, May 16 and June 20.

2. Upper St. Clair School District will hold an informational meeting for parents of current fourth-, eighth- and/or 10th-graders interested in learning more about the International Baccalaureate program. The meeting is set for 7 p.m. Jan. 24, in the high school theatre (enter the school via the theatre entrance). The presentation will be posted under “2017-2018 Presentations” on the district’s IB webpage following the event.

3. Peters Township Chamber of Commerce announces a Business Exchange Breakfast, hosted by Beinhauer Family Funeral Homes & Cremation Services, on Jan. 25, at Beinhauer Community Room, 2828 Washington Road, McMurray. Registration, networking and breakfast will take place from 7:30 to 8 a.m., followed by business exchange from 8 to 9:30. Cost is $20 for members and $30 for non-members. Space is limited. Registrations will be accepted through Jan. 19 at ptcoc.org.

4. Peters Township Citizen’s Police Academy Spring 2018 is scheduled March 6-April 24. Participants will be taught the basics of criminal law with emphasis on the crimes code and vehicle code, patrol tactics, the processing of crime scenes, interview and interrogation, and more. 5. Scholarship opportunities are provided by the Southwestern Pennsylvania Registered Nurses Club to nursing students entering their final year of studies in a diploma, associate degree, or bachelor of science degree. Nurses actively pursing advanced education in nursing may also apply. Students are eligible whose official home of residence are in one of the following 10 counties: Allen, Armstrong, Beaver, Butler, Fayette, Greene, Indiana, Lawrence, Washington and Westmoreland. Scholarships are awarded each April. Apply through the Pittsburgh Foundation, Five PPG Place, Suite 250, Pittsburgh PA 15222-5414. The Pittsburgh Foundation also sends scholarship information to nursing schools and colleges in Pittsburgh and surrounding areas.
