Upper St. Clair announces that Turkeyfoot Road, between Sagewood Drive and McClelland Road, will be closed the week of Jan. 22 for hazardous tree removal. Detour signs will be posted. The tree removal was delayed from the week of Jan. 15 due to the hazardous weather.
A presentation on social media, hosted by Magisterial District Judge Ronald A. Arnoni and Jim Dill, former chief deputy of the Office of Attorney General, will take place on Jan. 25 at three locations. Topics will include: how to spot risky student behavior, understanding and examining social media and its security features, and more. Examples of apps and methods will be shown, and there will be information about stalking, cyber-bullying, sexting, and long-term consequences of sharing information online and in the social sphere, among others. Presentations will include: Upper St. Clair High School, 9 to 10 a.m.; St. Thomas More Church, Upper St. Clair, 11 a.m. to noon; Bethel Park High School, 1:30 to 2:30 p.m.
There is an immediate opening on the Peters Township Sanitary Authority. Peters Township is seeking resumes from township residents willing to volunteer their time and talent to serve on this board. Pittsburgh Chinese Academy – South Hills will hold its annual Chinese New Year celebration on Feb. 25, at Center Presbyterian Church, 255 Center Church Road, McMurray. Student performances start at 2 p.m with dinner, games and raffles to follow. Our Lady of Grace Church, Scott Township, is seeking artists to participate in an exhibition of their work in the 2018 Pentecost Sacred Arts Festival, set for May 16-20. This juried exhibit will showcase and foster appreciation of sacred artistic expression. Artworks submitted for exhibition are required to be in the Judeo-Christian Tradition. Total cash prizes of $1,200 will be awarded. Deadline for entries is March 23.
