The South West Communities Chamber of Commerce is giving away a 2018 Black Ford Escape from Woltz & Wind Ford, or $18,000, for its 34th Annual Car Raffle. Funds raised will not only help the chamber continue regular operations, but also will help pay for the repairs needed due to the recent flooding in their downstairs office. The winning ticket will be pulled at 5:30 p.m. July 26, outside of the chamber building located at 990 Washington Pike, Bridgeville. There will be complimentary food and drinks for all of those in attendance. The 2nd Place winner will receive a $250 Tire Service Package from Calabro Tires and the 3rd Place winner will get a gift basket from Fresh Thyme in Collier Township.
A shredding event, for residents of Mt. Lebanon only, will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. July 28, at the Mt. Lebanon public works yard, 1250 Lindendale Drive, off Cedar Boulevard. Iron Mountain will be on hand to shred confidential papers.
The Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission (PTC) and the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announce a dual closure and detour affecting travel on Reissing Road (State Route 3001) and Millers Run Road (State Route 50) in Cecil Township. As part of the Rapid Bridge Replacement Project, PennDOT will be replacing a bridge on Millers Run Road while Reissing Road remains closed due to the PA Turnpike’s Southern Beltway project. For approximately one month, motorists using the current Reissing Road detour will now need to use the following detour beginning July 25: Turn right onto Millers Run Road (State Route 50) for approximately 1.2 miles; turn left onto Muse-Bishop Road (State Route 1005) for approximately 3.1 miles; turn right onto State Route 980 for approximately 6.6 miles; turn right onto Reissing Road.
