JVS Environmental will offer an electronic items disposal service to residents and business of Mt. Lebanon only. Most electronic devices will be recycled free of charge at the public works yard, 1250 Lindendale Drive (off Cedar Blvd) between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. June 16.

Pennsylvania Resources Council will host a hard-to-recycle collection event from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. June 16, at Bethel Park High School. Items to be collected/disposed of at no cost include: cell/home phones, CFL bulbs, computer towers and peripheral equipment, expanded polystyrene packaging material, microwave ovens, stereo equipment and video game consoles/DVD players. A fee will be charged for television, computer monitors, printers, alkaline batteries, CDs/DVDs/floppy disks, fluorescent tubes, small Freon appliances, tires (with and without rims) and VHS tapes. Opioid overdose prevention and response training will be provided by representatives of Medical Rescue Team South Authority and Prevention Point Pittsburgh at Baldwin Community United Methodist Church. Training on the use of Narcan and CPR will be included at the event scheduled for 6:30 p.m. June 20, at the church located at the intersection of Baptist and Doverdell Roads across the street from Caste Village. A supply of Naloxone (Narcan) will be available to registered participants at the June 20 event. To register, call 412-882-9300.

The South Hills Women’s Club is accepting requests for funding from local nonprofit 501c charitable and community organizations. The organization must provide service in Allegheny or Washington counties, have IRS 501c status and receive no federal funds for the specific project. Applicants can submit their name, organization’s name, contact number, brief description of their work and who they help and how they would like to use the money we will raise for their organization. The request should be sent to the South Hills Women’s Club, P.O. Box 13184, Pittsburgh, PA 15243. Funding request deadline is June 15, 2018.

Summer Lunch Program, sponsored by Keystone Oaks School District for children age 18 and under, will be held each weekday at the following locations: Hamilton Park, during the summer recreation program; Castle Shannon library, 12:45 to 1:30 p.m.; Alvern Gardens in Castle Shannon, 11:45 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.; Wilson Park, Green Tree Borough, 11:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m.; Dormont Pool/Recreation Center, 11:45 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.; Keystone Oaks High School, 11:30 a.m. to 12:15 p.m.; Sunset Hills United Presbyterian Church, 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Open to children from any community.
