The 15th Annual Hearts and Paws Pet Adoption and Care Fair will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. June 23, in the Agricultural Building above the South Park Fairgrounds. There will be approximately 65 booths including rescue groups, major animal shelters, pet care and service providers, veterinarians, festival food and more. Admission is free. A shredding event for residents of Mt. Lebanon only will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. June 23, at the Mt. Lebanon public works yard, 1250 Lindendale Drive, off Cedar Boulevard. Iron Mountain will be on hand to shred confidential papers.

Early Settler Forts of Western Pennsylvania will be the program hosted by the Peters Creek Historical Society at 7:30 p.m. June 25, in the social room at Wrights United Methodist Church, 788 Venetia Road, Venetia. Presented by Bryan Cunning and Washington County Historical Society Director Clay Kilgore, the program will focus on the early forts in the area and the artifacts they found working in conjunction with National Geographic Channel’s “diggers.” Refreshments will be served. Family Hospice and Palliative Care offers Camp Healing Hearts, a free one-day bereavement camp for grieving children and their family members, from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. June 30, at Carlow University. Staffed by licensed professionals from Family Hospice and trained volunteers, this free camp is offered for children ages 6 to 12 and their parents/guardians who have experienced the death of a loved one. A continental breakfast and lunch are included. Preregistration is required. Applications must be completed by June 15.
