St. Anne's celebrates Digital Learning Day

On Feb. 22, Saint Anne School celebrated Digital Learning Day. During that week, students were busy in the STREAM (Science, Technology, Religion, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics) lab run by Mike Dischner, director of technology at the school. Using the school’s iPads, the students learned SCRATCH programming and how to use computer coding to remotely control Blue-Bot™ robots through Bluetooth™ technology. The older students are learning C++ Graphical Robotics Coding. “The iPads™ and coding apps available on this platform are allowing the K-8 students at Saint Anne School one more opportunity to improve their technological literacy and coding knowledge for the 21st century,” said Dischner. “While younger students learn the basics of coding older students are preparing to use more complex coding capable of automating tasks through the use of Robot Virtual Worlds™ (a high-end simulation environment that enables students, without robots, to learn programming). These are a great addition to the BlueBot™ robots and littleBits™ coding kits which the students have been utilizing this year.” Pictured from left are fourth-graders Caleb and Joey, and second-graders Dominic and Olivia.
