Creative Café
Upper St. Clair Public Library will host Creative Café, a group to help support people’s creative endeavors. The group meets from 2 to 3 p.m. the first Friday of each month. Free screening
The new documentary film, “The Nuns, the Priests and the Bombs,” will be shown in several places in the Pittsburgh area June 1 and 3, including: St. Winifred Parish, Castle Shannon, 7 p.m. June 1; Sisters of the Divine Providence Motherhouse Auditorium, 2 p.m. June 3; and Carlow University, Palumbo Hall, Room 107, 6:30 p.m. June 3. The film talks about the urgent need for nuclear disarmament, the destructive power of these weapons and the work people of faith are doing to bring this issue to the public’s attention. Hosta show
The Daffodil & Hosta Society of Western Pennsylvania’s Annual Hosta Show will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. June 2, at Soergel Orchards Farm Market in Wexford. Hosta plant sales begin at 10 a.m. Entries for the juried show of cut leaf as well as potted hostas/arrangements will be accepted from 5 to 8 p.m. June 1, and from 8 to 10 a.m. the day of the show. Baldwin United Methodist Church will hold a trip to Memphis and Nashville Aug. 20-25. Day one includes a complimentary dinner and overnight stay at the Drury Hotel. Day two travel to Memphis and stay at the Four Points Sheraton Memphis East for two nights. Day three begins with a city sightseeing tour including the Duck March at the Peabody Hotel, Sun Records guided studio tour and Elvis’ Graceland, followed by dinner at Corky’s BBQ. Day four, travel to Nashville and visit the Country Music Hall of Fame, then stay at the Gaylord Opryland Resort for two nights and dinner at Cascades Restaurant. Day five includes a guided sightseeing tour with a local singer/songwriter and tour of Andrew Jackson’s home “Hermitage” before dinner and the Grand Ole Opry show. COPD cruise
Breathe Pennsylvania, a nonprofit organization that helps the residents of southwestern Pennsylvania achieve and maintain optimal lung health, will hold its annual “Breathing in the ‘Burgh” Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) Cruise on the Gateway Clipper Fleet in Station Square from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. June 15. Cost of $10 includes one guest registration and lunch for both cruisers. Breathe Pennsylvania will provide boarding assistance to COPD patients and caregivers. Camp Healing Hearts
Family Hospice and Palliative Care offers Camp Healing Hearts, a free one-day bereavement camp for grieving children and their family members, from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Saturday, June 30, at Carlow University. Staffed by licensed professionals from Family Hospice and trained volunteers, this free camp is offered for children ages 6 to 12 and their parents/guardians who have experienced the death of a loved one. A continental breakfast and lunch are included. Preregistration is required. Applications must be completed by June 15.
