Upper St. Clair Public Library will host Creative Café, a group to help support people’s creative endeavors. The group meets from 2 to 3 p.m. the first Friday of each month. Free film screening
The new documentary film, “The Nuns, the Priests and the Bombs,” will be shown in several places in the Pittsburgh area June 1 and 3, including: St. Winifred Parish, Castle Shannon, 7 p.m. June 1; Sisters of the Divine Providence Motherhouse Auditorium, 2 p.m. June 3; and Carlow University, Palumbo Hall, Room 107, 6:30 p.m. June 3. The film talks about the urgent need for nuclear disarmament, the destructive power of these weapons and the work people of faith are doing to bring this issue to the public’s attention. Hosta show
The Daffodil & Hosta Society of Western Pennsylvania’s Annual Hosta Show will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. June 2, at Soergel Orchards Farm Market in Wexford. Dance recital
Diamond Dance, the Carnegie Performing Arts Center year end recital, will be presented June 2 and 3 at the Andrew Carnegie Music Hall, 300 Beechwood Ave., Carnegie. Saturday’s performance is at 8 p.m.; Sunday’s is at 2 p.m. The program will feature solos from graduating seniors Gabrielle Fabian (Chartiers Valley), Danielle Buttlar (Seton LaSalle), Cori Sheppard (Mt. Lebanon) and Melina Kennelly (Keystone Oaks). The recital will feature performers ages 3-18 dancing ballet, jazz, hip hop, lyrical, tap, modern and pre dance. Frontier wedding
The Oliver Miller Homestead, South Park, will celebrate two 18th century re-enactment weddings on June 3. The first will depict the marriage of a young bride, Mary Miller, to William Wallace of Cross Creek, Washington County. Other activities will include frontier wedding traditions such as the Run for the Bottle. The second ceremony will be a widow’s shift wedding. The first wedding will begin at 2 p.m. followed by gifts being given to the bride and then the second wedding. The homestead will be open from 1:30 to 4:30 with an admission charge of $2. The barn, forge and demo shed will be closed on this day.

Rose Day
The Pittsburgh Rose Society and the Garden Club of McKeesport will sponsor the fifth annual “Rose Day at Renzie” from 1 to 4 p.m. June 9, at the Renziehausen Park Rose Garden, which features approximately 1,200 rose bushes in full bloom. COPD cruise
Breathe Pennsylvania, a nonprofit organization that helps the residents of southwestern Pennsylvania achieve and maintain optimal lung health, will hold its annual “Breathing in the ‘Burgh” Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) Cruise on the Gateway Clipper Fleet in Station Square from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. June 15. Cost of $10 includes one guest registration and lunch for both cruisers. Breathe Pennsylvania will provide boarding assistance to COPD patients and caregivers. • Arnold Palmer: Homespun Stories of the King, 7 p.m. May 31. Author Chris Rodell will discuss his new book, which offers a new take on the legendary figure.
• Slovak Heritage: History of the Pittsburgh Agreement, 7 p.m. June 4. Speaker Rich Kocur will discuss the memorandum of understanding completed on May 31, 1918, between members of Czech and Slovak expatriate communities in the U.S. The agreement, made in Pittsburgh, prescribed the intent of the cosignatories to create an independent Czechoslovakia. In October 1918, the primary author of the agreement, Tomas Garrigue Masaryk, declared the independence of Czechoslovakia and later was elected its first president.
