Mary Menk
The Andrew Carnegie Free Library & Music Hall welcomed new library director Mary Menk in September. Menk comes to the ACFL from Northland Public Library, where she had been working primarily in teen services. Prior to that, she had worked at several branches of Henrico County Public Library System (outside of Richmond, Va.). She earned her master of library science degree at the University of Maryland’s College Park campus in 2003.
Since 2012, Menk has served as the manager of the Children’s and Teen’s Pavilion at the Library of Congress’s National Book Festival. Menk lives in Mt. Lebanon with her husband, Bryan, and 15-year-old son, Sam.

Brian Kokkila
The Peters Township Fire Department announced firefighter/paramedic Brian Kokkila worked his final shift Oct. 18, after 20 years of serving Peters Township. Kokkila has moved on to the City of Pittsburgh and will serve as the assistant fire chief for the Pittsburgh Bureau of Fire.
