AUP Club

Association of University People is looking for single, four-year college graduates over 50 to join the group for monthly dinners and social gatherings. Scott Conservancy

The Scott Conservancy will present Beth Exton of The Pittsburgh Botanic Garden at its annual meeting at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 14, at the Scott Park Lodge in Scott Park. Exton will share the history of the garden’s 460 acres of land and provide highlights of its current education programs, conservation efforts and display garden, along with future plans. Lensshooters meet

Brook Ward of Washington will be the guest speaker at the Western Pennsylvania Lensshooters Camera Club meeting at 7:15 p.m. Nov. 14, in the Peters Township Public Library. Women’s club

Rummage-recycling sale

A fall rummage-recycling sale will be held on Nov. 10 at Westminster Presbyterian Church, Upper St. Clair. The regular sale will be held from 8 a.m. to noon. The sale will close from noon to 12:30 p.m. for lunch. Bag and half-price sale is from 12:30 to 2. Rummage sale

John McMillan Preschool, Bethel Park, will hold its annual rummage sale from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Nov. 10, with a special $3 bag sale from 12:30 to 1. Craft/vendor show

Christmas craft/vendor fair

St. Valentine Church, Bethel Park, will hold a Christmas craft and vendor fair from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Nov. 10, in Frawley Hall. There will be a Chinese auction, lottery trees, Christmas Café and bake sale. Admission is free. Proceeds benefit St. Valentine Preschool. Sugarplum Shop

Upper St. Clair League for the Arts will hold Sugarplum Shop 2018 Nov. 8-11 at a new location, the Upper St. Clair Public Library’s multi-purpose room located at 1820 McLaughlin Run Road. There will be original fine art and hand-crafted holiday gift items by local artists. Hours are 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday. Credit cards are accepted. Each artist will contribute a percentage of their sales at the event toward a scholarship awarded each May to an Upper St. Clair senior who intends to pursue a career in the arts.

Operation Troop Appreciation’s 8th Annual Gently Used Costume Jewelry Sale will be held Nov. 9 and 10, at the South Park Community Center, 2675 Brownsville Road. Pancake breakfast

Boy Scout Troop 2 will hold its annual pancake breakfast fundraiser from 7:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Nov. 11, at Bethany Presbyterian Church, 740 Washington Ave., Bridgeville. Tickets are $6, $4 for senior citizens and $3 for children under 5 and include all-you-can-eat pancakes and sausage. Tickets will be sold at the door.

Murder mystery dinner

Thomas Presbyterian Church, Eighty Four, will hold a Murder Mystery Dinner on Nov. 10. Doors open at 5:15 p.m. with dinner served at 6. Mystery’s Most Wanted will perform “It’s Murder CB.” Charlie, Lucy, Linus, Marcie and Patty are reuniting for one last holiday together. But when Lucy decides to dig deeper into Charlie’s psyche, the Christmas tree might not be the only thing that ends up dead. Veterans Day program

A Community Veterans Breakfast Club Program will be held on Veterans Day, Nov. 11, at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Mt. Lebanon. There will be a combined 9:45 a.m. worship service followed by a breakfast program with the Veterans Breakfast Club. There will also be an interactive presentation for children during the breakfast. WWI remembrance

Bells of Peace, a World War I Remembrance, will be held at 11 a.m. Nov. 11, at Allegheny Cemetery and The Homewood Cemetery. The historic cemeteries will ring the bells to mark the 100th anniversary of Armistic Day, which brought an end to WWI at the 11th hour on the 11th day in the 11th month of 1918.

Veterans memorial service

The Southwestern Pennsylvania Registered Nurses Club will hold its 26th Veterans Day Memorial Service at noon on Nov. 12, at the South Park nursing war memorials on Corrigan Drive. The service will be dedicated to Mary Ann Rosko, a club member who died in 2017 and served in the U.S. Army Nurses Corps. All military nurses will be remembered with a floral wreath placed at the nursing monuments.

Veterans Day observance

A Veterans Day observance to honor veterans of all branches of the U.S. Armed Forces is planned for 10 a.m. Nov. 12, at the Upper St. Clair Veterans Park, 1820 McLaughlin Run Road. Devlin Robinson, a U.S. Marine who served three tours in Afghanistan and one tour in Iraq, will serve as the event’s featured speaker. There will be musical performances by Upper St. Clair High School’s Marching Band and Chanteclairs as well as the Baker Elementary fourth-grade chorus.

Short film festival

Film Pittsburgh presents Pittsburgh Shorts Nov. 14-18 at Kelly Strayhorn Theater on the South Side. Opening night is Nov. 14 beginning at 7 p.m. and featuring eight short films, an after-party and a chance to meet visiting filmmakers. General admission is $25 in advance or $30 at the door.
