Historical society

Peters Creek Historical Society’s holiday gathering will be held at 6:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 26, in the social room at Wrights United Methodist Church, 788 Venetia Road, Venetia. Women’s Business Network

The Mt. Lebanon Chapter of the Women’s Business Network will meet at 8 a.m. Nov. 27, at Panera Bread, Mt. Lebanon. Meetings are held the second and fourth Tuesdays of each month. Vendor/craft show

Chabad of the South Hills Annual Chanukah Toy Drive for hospitalized and underprivileged children is under way. New, unwrapped toys are being collected. Peters Township is once again participating with the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve in collecting Toys for Tots this holiday season. Volunteer event

Coalition for Leadership, Education & Advocacy for Recovery (CLEAR) is looking for volunteers to help prepare one million meals for the hungry in the community. The Meals to Hope Packing Event will take place from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Nov. 28, at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center in Pittsburgh. An all-faith worship service will begin at 9 in Hall B followed by the packing event at 10 in Hall A. Enter and check in through the East Lobby doors.

USC pep rally

The Upper St. Clair School District will host its Winter Community Pep Rally at 7 p.m. Nov. 28 in the high school gymnasium. The event is free and open to the community. The free event will include a variety of competitions among the Upper St. Clair High School’s winter varsity sports teams including girls’ and boys’ basketball, wrestling, rifle, girls’ and boys’ swimming and diving, ice hockey and indoor track. In addition, there will be performances by the marching band, the USC drum line, cheerleaders, dance and hip-hop teams, as well as an appearance by the panther mascot. The August Wilson Cultural Center presents and celebrates the African American experience by featuring jazz music programming as part of year-long signature events. Theater auditions

Little Lake Theatre Company will hold auditions for adult actors (age 18-plus) for the first four productions of its 2019 season. Auditions will be held from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Dec. 1, and 5:15 to 10 p.m. Dec. 2. All auditions will be cold readings from the scripts. Chanukah Festival

The Annual South Hills Lights Community Chanukah Festival will begin at 5:30 p.m. Dec. 3, with a Giant Menorah Lighting and Mega Gelt on the corner of Potomac and Belrose avenues. A Chanukah Musical Laser Light Show and festivities at the Hollywood Theater on Potomac Avenue will follow. Holocaust exhibit

Holocaust Center of Pittsburgh’s newest exhibit, Stitching History from the Holocaust, will be on display until Dec. 10. The multimedia exhibit will feature fashion designs and explore the lives of Czech couple Paul and Hedy Strnad and their failed attempt to escape the onslaught of Nazi Germany.
