Old Schoolhouse Players closes its 2018 season with “The Christmas Schooner,” a musical based on the Great Lakes voyages of Christmas tree ships during the late 1800s and early 1900s.

“The Christmas Schooner” is a real-life story of a Michigan shipping captain who braves the deadly weather to bring Christmas trees to German-American families in turn-of-the-century Chicago. Despite his wife’s misgivings, his voyages become a yearly tradition until a fateful voyage makes his wife realize the true importance of his mission.

The musical will be performed in the Bud Allison Memorial Auditorium in the Mt. Pleasant Community Center. Performance times are 7:30 p.m. Dec. 1, 7 and 8. Two matinees will be presented at 3 p.m. Dec. 2 and 9. Tickets are $20 for adults, $16 for seniors and students, and $10 for children 10 and under.

Call 724-344-7467 for tickets.
