Bethel Art Guild

Garden club

Members and guests will discover the artistry of three glass masters — Dale Chihuly, Lino Tagliapietra and Gabriel Loire, watching them create hot glass bowls, flowers and chandeliers on his photo plates. FLEA MARKETS/CRAFT FAIRS

Arts/crafts festival

The 29th Annual St. Thomas More Arts & Craft Festival will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Oct. 6, at the church located at 126 Fort Couch Road, Bethel Park (across the street from South Hills Village Mall). The show will feature handcrafted items from more than 75 local artists in two rooms. Lunch and soups will also be offered. Admission is free.

FUNDRAISERS

Maker Space launch

Full STEAM Ahead, the inaugural kick-off event to launch Matt’s Maker Space, Inc., a new nonprofit organization dedicated to providing maker spaces, maker programming and scholarship opportunities to schools, libraries and community centers who may not have the resources to provide them, will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. Oct. 4, at the Children’s Museum of Pittsburgh. Treasures sale

Friends of Family Hospice and Palliative Care’s Fifth Annual Family Treasures Sale will be held from Oct. 6 and 7 at Family Hospice offices, 50 Moffett Street, Mt. Lebanon. Domestic violence

Spaghetti dinner

The Rotary Club of Bethel Park’s annual spaghetti dinner, “Eat Pasta, Make a Difference,” will be held Oct. 13, at the Bethel Park Community Center, 5151 Park Ave. Eat in from 2 to 7 p.m. Drive through times are from noon to 7 p.m. There will be a raffle with a prize of $1,000 and a silent auction with prizes available as well. Playtime for kids

Live theater

Nutcracker auditions

Auditions for dancers, boys and girls, are being held for the annual performance of the Nutcracker as presented by the Carnegie Performing Arts Center. Two weekends of performances are being offered in a full stage production at the historic Andrew Carnegie Music Hall in Carnegie. Production and rehearsals will take place on Saturday afternoons. Dancers ages 5 through adult are invited to attend the audition on Oct. 6. Ages 5-12 years old will be seen at 1 p.m. and 13 and up at 2. Dinner for a Dollar

Community of Christ Church, Bethel Park, will hold Dinner for a Dollar from 5 to 7 p.m. Oct. 11. The menu will include spaghetti, bread and rolls, garden salad and desserts. Donations of $1 per person or $3 per family are accepted, but not required. No take out will be available, including desserts. Torah & Tea

Chabad of the South Hills, Mt. Lebanon, will host a Torah & Tea for women at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 11. Discovering the “Eishet Chayil-Woman of Valour” will convey the age old wisdom of King Solomon which is sung as a tribute to the Jewish woman each Friday night. There will be hot tea and refreshments.

Flu shot clinic

First Bethel United Methodist Church, 5901 Library Road, Bethel Park, will hold a flu shot clinic from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Oct. 7. A Walgreen pharmacist will be on hand to administer the shots. Tri-Community South EMS will offer free flu shots from noon to 4 p.m. at the following locations: South Park Community Center, Oct. 9; Bethel Park EMS base, Oct. 11; Upper St. Clair Community Recreation Center, Oct. 12. Recipients must be over 18 years old to receive the shot. No insurance is necessary.
