Seniors: Week of Oct. 10
Luncheon/movie
Mt. Lebanon Recreation will hold a senior luncheon and movie matinee on Oct. 16, at the Rec Center, 2nd floor, Room A, for senior adults and their adult guests (Mt. Lebanon residency not required). Check-in is from 10 to 10:30 a.m. A flu shot clinic will be held from 10 to 11:30 a.m. in Room B. At 11, Fox Rehabilitation will present “Understanding the Effects of Aging and Disease.” There will be a hot lunch buffet and 50/50 raffle at noon followed by a movie at 1 p.m. on the big screen. Cost of $7 is due by Oct. 12. Walk-ins are not encouraged and will be accepted only if space permits. A late fee will be charged. For more information, call 412-343-3409.
Retired Men meet
The Retired Men’s Luncheon Group will meet on Oct. 18, at Pleasant Hills Presbyterian Church, 199 Old Clairton Road. Lunch is at noon followed by speaker Bob Calahan, who will discuss Pittsburgh’s history, geography and sports with an audio and visual presentation. Cost for lunch is $8, payable at the door. Dormont AARP
Dormont AARP 3016 meets the second Thursday of each month throughout the year at Unity Presbyterian Church, 1146 Greentree Road. All seniors age 55 and older and new members are welcome. Doors open at 11:30 a.m. A meeting follows at noon. Light refreshments are provided. Activities include entertainment, speakers, pancake brunch, covered dish dinner, annual picnic, fundraisers and travel opportunities. A pancake brunch will be held from 8 a.m. to noon on Oct. 27, at Unity Presbyterian Church. Cost is $5 for adults and $2 for children under 10. Driving course
Peters Township Parks and Recreation Department will offer an eight-hour AARP Driving Class Monday and Tuesday, Nov. 12-13, and a four-hour Refresher Class on Monday, Dec. 3. Registration deadline for the eight-hour course is Nov. 5. Registration for the four-hour class is Nov. 26. Registration is at the Recreation Center only. For information, call 724-942-5000.
Fitness classes
WROC at Westminster Presbyterian Church, Upper St. Clair, offers fitness for people ages 55-plus. Classes include: Arthritis Foundation Exercise, 9:30 to 10:20 a.m. Mondays and 10 to 10:50 a.m. Wednesdays, through Oct. 29; Gentle Yoga Morning & Evening Classes, 6 to 7 p.m. Mondays and 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesdays, through Oct. 31; Strong Bodies – Strong Bones, 9 to 9:50 a.m. Wednesdays, through Dec. 12; Tai Chi, 11:15 a.m. to noon Wednesdays, through Dec. 12. Chair dance class
Senior chair dance classes are offered from 11:30 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. Mondays at the Peters Township Recreation Center for those ages 60 and older. Cost is $60 for members and $90 for non-members. For information, visit www.peterstownship.com.
Pickleball
