Exercise Is Medicine

Exercise is Medicine, a free, informative two-credit continuing education class, will be offered at 4:30 p.m. Sept. 12, in the chapel at Baptist Homes, 489 Castle Shannon Blvd. Nicole Bidolli, Providence Point fitness coordinator, will compare physical activity and exercise and discuss the benefits of both. Senior fair

State Rep. Dan Miller, in collaboration with U.S. Rep. Conor Lamb, will hold a free annual senior fair from 9 a.m. to noon on Sept. 13, at the Salvation Army, 1060 McNeilly Road, Mt. Lebanon. The event will include information on federal resources by a number of vendors, free flu shots for those with a Medicare or insurance card, free medical screenings, the chance to win door prizes, and a complimentary Smiley Cookie. Lunch/movie

Mt. Lebanon Recreation Center will hold a senior luncheon and movie matinee on Sept. 18, at the Rec Center, for seniors and their adult guests (Mt. Lebanon residency not required). Check-in at 10:30 a.m. in the Rec office. A presentation, “Senior Living,” and an activity will begin at 11 a.m. followed by lunch at noon, a 50/50 raffle and movie on the big screen. Cost is $7 per person if preregistered by noon on Sept. 14. After that date, the price increases to $9. For more information, call 412-343-3409.

Health/wellness fair

Baptist Homes Society Senior Health & Wellness Fair will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sept. 18, at the Galleria of Mt. Lebanon. This free event will offer more than 80 exhibitors plus entertainment, flu shots and other health screenings. For more information, call 412-350-9654.

Retired Men meet

The Retired Men’s Luncheon Group will meet at noon on Sept. 20, at Pleasant Hills Presbyterian Church, 199 Old Clairton Road. Musician Dan Dunkin will play the trumpet and be accompanied by a pianist. He will also have instruments on display and speak about each of them. Cost of lunch his $8, payable at the door. Informational session

Artis Senior Living, Bethel Park, will host an informational session on “Veteran’s Benefits When Diagnosed with Dementia” at 6 p.m. Sept. 20. Esquire Colleen Bratkovich from Zacharia Brown Elder Law Attorneys will be presenting. Fitness classes

WROC at Westminster Presbyterian Church, Upper St. Clair, offers fitness for people ages 55-plus. Sukkah lunch

Chabad of the South Hills, Mt. Lebanon, will hold a Seniors in the Sukkah lunch at noon on Sept. 26, featuring lunch, a musical holiday program and a chance to shake the Luluv and Etrog. Suggested donation is $5; wheelchair accessible. To preregister, call 412-278-2658.

Driving course

Chair dance class

Pickleball

Theater-minded seniors

Better Than Ever Independents, also known as the Sassy Seniors, is a theatrical group that performs vaudeville-type shows at nursing homes, AARP meetings and more. New members age 50 and older are needed. For more information, email jangary2@hotmail.com.

Dormont AARP

Dormont AARP 3016 meets the second Thursday of each month throughout the year at Unity Presbyterian Church, 1146 Greentree Road. All seniors age 55 and older and new members are welcome. Doors open at 11:30 a.m. A meeting follows at noon. Light refreshments are provided. Activities include entertainment, speakers, pancake brunch, covered dish dinner, annual picnic, fundraisers and travel opportunities. On Sept. 13 there will be a covered dish dinner.
