Band festival

The Mt. Lebanon High School Blue Devil Marching Band’s 24th Annual Festival of Bands will take place at 7 p.m. Sept. 22, at the Mt. Lebanon High School stadium, rain or shine. Cancellation

Due to an injury to one of the band members, The Collisions must cancel its Sept. 22 appearance at the B.P.O.E. Lodge 2213 in Bethel Park. The lodge and the band will be attempting to reschedule at a later date.

• Cooking Matters, 6:30 p.m. Sept. 20 and 27, Oct. 4, 11, 18 and 25. This six-week cooking course focuses on cooking nutritious meals on a budget. The Pennsylvania Resources Council will offer a backyard composting workshop from 10:30 a.m. to noon on Sept. 22, at Castle Shannon Public Library. Course fee includes 90 minutes of instruction plus a free 82-gallon Garden Earth compost bin. Cost is $70 per person or $75 per couple (includes one composting bin).
