Upper St. Clair residents Becky and John Surma were among the honorees at United Way of Southwestern Pennsylvania’s April 16 “Toasting the Titans” event.

Also honored were Ryan Memorial Foundation, Kim and Curt Fleming and the Tocqueville Society, a leadership giving group.

The United Way acknowledged the honorees’ extensive legacies of dedicating their time and talent to establishing long-lasting positive change

The Surmas co-chaired the region’s United Way campaign in 2006, with John, retired chairman and chief executive officer of United States Steel Corp., calling the experience “one of the highest honors” of his career.

Becky was one of the early co-chairs of United Way’s Women’s Leadership Council (2007-08), served as co-chair of United for Caregivers for more than five years and continues to work with United Way on programs related to aging.
