Preschool/kindergarten

Due to the Winter vortex, St. Elizabeth Preschool in Pleasant Hills had to cancel its original date for its Preschool Preview & Kindergarten Connection. The rescheduled event will be held from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Feb. 21, in the preschool and kindergarten classrooms. Black History

In honor of Black History Month, a premiere screening of “The Green Book: Guide to Freedom” will take place on Feb. 19, at the Senator John Heinz History Museum in Pittsburgh. Doors open at 6 p.m. followed by the screening and panel discussion beginning at 6:45. The film tells the story of Victor H. Green’s eponymously named travel guide that allowed African Americans to safely tour the country during a time of severe institutionalized racism.

Serbian music

Westminster Music & Arts Series presents Tsar Lazar Serbian Men’s Choir and Carica Milica Serbian Women’s Choir at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 23, in the sanctuary at Westminster Presbyterian Church, Upper St. Clair. The program will include sacred and folk music of Serbian musical culture. A freewill offering will be accepted.

Opera

Pittsburgh Opera presents “Glory Denied,” the true story of America’s longest-held POW, for four performances only – Feb. 23 and 26, and March 1 and 3. Historical tour

Pittsburgh History & Landmarks Foundation offers free tours of the Old Allegheny County Jail Museum from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Feb. 25. Reservations are appreciated, but not required. High school musical

Upper St. Clair High School’s Performing Arts Department will present “Hello, Dolly!” March 1-3 and March 7-9, in the school’s theatre. Directed by Larry Cervi, the curtain rises at 7:30 p.m. March 1, 2, 8 and 9. Family Night, with a 6:30 p.m. show time, is set for March 7, and a 2 p.m. matinee is offered on March 3. Tickets at $12 for adults and $5 for students are on sale now at www.usctheater.org. Adult ticket prices will increase to $15 starting March 1. The box office will open for in-person ticket sales starting on Feb. 18 during the following days/times: 10:30 a.m. to noon Wednesday and Saturday mornings, and 6:30 to 8 p.m. Monday and Wednesday evenings (one hour prior to showtime). Tickets for all shows can be picked up on any of the performance days. Admission for USC senior citizens is free with a USC Gold Card. Gold Card holders must obtain their free theater tickets in person at the box office.

Jewish comedy

Chabad of the South Hills 4th Annual Jewish Comedy Night will be held at 7 p.m. March 3, at the Music Hall at the Andrew Carnegie Free Library, 300 Beechwood Ave., Carnegie. City Theatre announces a new series of workshops and intensives to help nurture the careers of Pittsburgh-based artists.
