Story hour
St. Elizabeth Elementary School in Baldwin will hold a Preschool Story Hour from 1 to 2 p.m. Jan. 10. Children 3 years old and older (and potty-trained) are welcome to attend. There will be a story followed by activities with some of the middle school students. Children can be dropped off after signing in with one of the preschool teachers. Coin club
The monthly meeting of the South Hills Coin Club will be held at 8 p.m. Jan. 8, at Bethel Presbyterian Church, 2999 Bethel Church Road, Bethel Park. This month’s program will be on silver dollars. The Pittsburgh Women’s Mastermind for Entrepreneurs Washington chapter will hold its inaugural chapter meeting from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Jan. 10, at Panera Bread Trinity Point, Washington. Topics of this meeting include: Budgets, Tracking Expenses and Planning for the Unexpected. Any woman who is not currently a member of PWM is invited to attend. Bethel Woman’s Club
The Bethel Woman’s Club will meet on Jan. 16, at the South Hills Elks Lodge, 2789 South Park Road, Bethel Park. There will be a social gathering at 11:30 a.m. with lunch following at noon. Featured speaker is Shawn Arbaugh, Bethel Park Municipal manager. Sarris candy bars will be available for purchase, with all proceeds benefiting the SHIM Pantry. Cooking for a Cause
Love & Knaidels: Cooking for a Cause will be held Jan. 13 at Chabad of the South Hills, Mt. Lebanon. Join women in the community to prepare 11 homemade kosher meals for 11 South Hills seniors in memory of the 11 who lost their lives in the Tree of Life shooting. Dinner for a Dollar
Community of Christ Church, Bethel Park, will hold Dinner for a Dollar from 5 to 7 p.m. Jan. 10, at the church located at 3472 South Park Road. The menu will include spaghetti, bread and rolls, garden salad and desserts. Donations of $1 per person or $3 per family are accepted, but not required. No reservations are needed. Opioid addiction
The Youth Steering Committee of Upper St. Clair will host the free program “Opioid Addiction” at 7 p.m. Jan. 9, at the Community & Recreation Center at Boyce Mayview Park. Gary Seech, regional director of operations at Glenbeigh, will be the presenter. Glenbeigh, located in northeast Ohio, is a nonprofit rehabilitation hospital, with six outpatient centers that provide care to adults in need of alcohol and drug addiction treatment as well as support for ongoing addiction recovery efforts.
