Flea market
Bethel Park Recreation is holding its monthly Flea Market from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. June 15 at the Port Authority parking lot at the corner of Brightwood and Lytle roads.
Other Flea Market Dates for the year are July 20, Aug. 17, and Sept. 21.
Resident fees are $10 for used items and $14 for new items. Non-resident fee is $14.

Electronic items disposal
JVS Environmental is offering an electronic items disposal service to residents and businesses of Mt. Lebanon from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. June 15, at the public works yard, 1250 Lindendale Drive, off Cedar Boulevard.
Most electronic devices will be recycled free of charge.
Historical society program
Tom Uram, president of the Washington County Coin Club and the Pennsylvania Association of Numismatists, will be guest speaker for the Peters Creek Historical Society meeting at 7:30 p.m. June 24 at Wrights United Methodist Church, 788 Venetia Road, Peters Township.
The program will focus on Apollo 11 coinage minted in commemoration of the 50th Anniversary marking man’s first steps on the moon. On July 20, 1969 the world watched as Neil Armstrong and Edwin “Buzz” Aldrin made the unprecedented achievement, one that involved the work of about 400,000 Americans.

The historical society also conducts tours of the Enoch Wright House on Venetia Road. Guided tours are scheduled for 1 to 3 p.m. June 9 and 6 to 8 p.m. June 25.
Movie in the park
South Fayette Township’s Movies in the Park series will feature “Ralph Breaks the Internet” at 8:30 p.m. June 14 in the Fairview Park Rotary Pavilion.
Video game bad guy Ralph and fellow misfit Vanellope von Schweetz must risk it all by traveling to the World Wide Web in search of a replacement part to save Vanellope’s video game, “Sugar Rush.” In way over their heads, Ralph and Vanellope rely on the citizens of the internet, the netizens, to help navigate their way, including an entrepreneur named Yesss, who is the head algorithm and the heart and soul of trend-making site BuzzzTube.
Family event
Bethany Lutheran Church in Bethel Park invites families to a summer family event called “Athens: Paul’s Dangerous Journey to Share the Truth,” which will be held from June 17 to 21 at the church, 5303 Madison Ave.

Senior lunch
A lunch for seniors will be hosted at noon June 18 at Chabad of the South Hills in Mt. Lebanon.
Gallagher Home Services will present a program on advance care planning and advance directives. Suggested donation is $5, and the building is wheelchair-accessible.

Academy summer programs
Mount Lebanon Academy, 400 Cochran Road, will offer STEAM Camps the week of June 24-28 in robotics, food science, chemistry and engineering. Classes will meet daily from 9:30 to noon or 1 to 3:30 p.m. These camps are geared to students in first through sixth grades.
SAT and ACT classes will be offered as private tutorials or group classes. SAT and ACT classes do not follow the session calendar and are scheduled once weekly July 8 through Aug. 12, with the exception of the first and final week when classes meet twice weekly. Any absences can be made up in a private tutorial, however, tuition rates will be adjusted accordingly.
All other classes and tutorials in math, reading, language arts, composition and other subjects meet twice weekly for a three week session beginning July 8. Tutorials in all academic areas can also be scheduled according to your own time schedule.

Hard-to-recycle collection
A collection of hard-to-recycle materials is scheduled for 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. June 15 at Bethel Park High School.
Some items are collected at no cost: cellular and home phones, compact fluorescent lamp bulbs, computer towers and peripheral equipment, expanded polystyrene packaging material, microwave ovens, stereo equipment, videocassette recorders, DVD players and cable boxes. Fees are charged for batteries, compact discs, DVDs, floppy disks, fluorescent tubes, printers, small freon appliances, tires, monitors and televisions. No chemicals will be collected.
The event is sponsored by Pennsylvania Resources Council in partnership with Colcom Foundation, Allegheny County Health Department, Duquesne Light Watt Choices, LANXESS, NewsRadio 1020 KDKA, NOVA Chemicals, Terrace Place at Vincentian, Municipality of Bethel Park, UPMC and 11 Cares.

Rose Expo
The Pittsburgh Rose Society will stage a Rose Expo from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. June 15 at Mt. Lebanon Public Library, 16 Castle Shannon Blvd.
More than 100 different kinds of roses will be on display in an opportunity for new and experienced gardeners to see the vast variety of shapes and colors of roses available for successful growing in the northern climate.
Rose experts will be available to answer questions and offer tips on growing better roses. Table displays will offer information on “Insect and Pest Control,” “Earth-Kind Roses,” Rose-Rosette Disease,” “Rose and Plant Photography” and more.

Preschool openings
John McMillan Preschool in Bethel Park has limited space available in its Monday-Wednesday-Friday class for 4-year-olds.
Through hands-on learning activities, children will practice social, fine motor and self-help skills that are essential in today’s kindergarten classrooms. There is increased emphasis on pre-reading, math, science, writing and language skills
Each day will include free play and gross motor time. Afternoon enrichment classes will be offered throughout the school year to extend your child’s day.

Family Fun Night
Spencer Family YMCA in Bethel Park will host a family fun night open house from 5:30 to 8 p.m. June 21. YMCA summer day camps
Spencer Family YMCA summer day camps for kids and teens, held at Silent Brook Barn in South Park and at Spencer Y in Bethel Park, provide a safe and enriching environment for campers to participate in healthy, developmentally appropriate activities and learning experiences.
The camps focus on having fun while learning and building self-esteem and social skills through new activities. Weekly themes keep campers engaged and provide a basis for kids to learn about themselves and the world around them.

Summer Dance Camps
Spencer Family Y, Bethel Park, will offer the following dance camps:
n Prince and Princess Dance Camp for children ages 3-5 includes a dance class, craft and time for a snack from home, plus a creative play. Session I runs June 17 and 24; Session II runs July 11 and 18. Both sessions are from 10:30 a.m. to noon and are $30 per session.
n Swan Lake Camp for ages 6-12 will teach students ballet, jazz and character dances. A craft of tutu construction will also be part of this camp. Session I runs June 20 and 27; Session II runs July 11 and 18. Both sessions are from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and are $40 per session. Space is limited. Dinner for a dollar
Community of Christ, 3472 South Park Road, Bethel Park, will host dinner for a dollar from 5 to 7 p.m. June 13.
On the menu are spaghetti, bread and rolls, salad and dessert. Suggested donation is $1 per person or $3 per family. No reservations are needed, and no takeout is available.

Strawberry festival
Peters Creek Evangelical Presbyterian Church invites the community to its Strawberry Festival from 6 to 8:30 p.m. June 14 at 905 E. McMurray Road, Peters Township (St. David’s Episcopal Parish Hall).
On the menu are fried chicken, roast beef, sides and strawberry shortcake with ice cream. Featured are children’s crafts, the Bounce House Jazz Band and a theme basket raffle. Country line dancing

Evening of chamber music
Temple Emanuel in Mt. Lebanon presents an evening of chamber music on June 20.
The concert, sponsored by the Diskin Music Fund and Temple Emanuel, starts at 7:30 and features musicians from the Pittsburgh Jewish Music Festival: Nurit Pacht, violin; Aron Zelkowicz, cello; Rodrigo Ojeda, piano.
The performance will include the music of Joachim Stutschewsky and Felix Mendelssohn. Tickets can be purchased at www.templeemanuelpgh.org/event/concert.
Concordia open house
Concordia of the South Hills will host an education session and open house from 1 to 3 p.m. June 23 and 24 at the retirement community’s campus, 1300 Bower Hill Road, Mt. Lebanon.
A brief education session on “Finding Value in Retirement Living” will be followed by tours of apartments and common areas. Refreshments will be served in the Harmony Room on the ground floor of the community.
