Orthodontist awards $500 scholarships

Dr. Gary Cartwright, an orthodontist with offices in Peters Township and Bethel Park, recently awarded $500 scholarships to four high school seniors.
Each year, he conducts an essay contest for all past and present patients who are furthering their education. The topic was “What would you like to study after high school and why?” Winners this year:
- Auriana Carrington of Venetia, daughter of the late Mark Carrington and Daneen Carrington, will attend Slippery Rock University to study dance and business.
- Ashley Ficorilli of Eighty Four, daughter of Michael and Carole Ficorilli, will attend Mercyhurst University to study sports medicine/pre-physician assistant.
- Dillon O’Donoghue of Canonsburg, son of Timothy and Theresa O’Donoghue, will attend Baldwin Wallace University to study international studies, national security.
- Zachary Shoemaker of Pittsburgh, son of Todd and Denise Shoemaker, will attend Slippery Rock University to study psychology.
This is the 20th year that Cartwright has awarded this scholarship.
