Flu shots

Tri-Community South EMS will hold flu shot clinics from 12 to 4 p.m. Oct. 6 at the South Park Community Center, Oct. 7 at the Upper St Clair Community and Recreation Center, and Oct. 9 at the Bethel Park Community Center.

The clinics are in partnership with Rite Aid and UPMC.

Trick or Trivia

Peters Township Parks and Recreation will host “Trick or Trivia” for participants ages 5 and older from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Oct. 7 at the Peterswood Park Amphitheater.

Teams of between two and eight members are welcome at the Halloween-themed and family-friendly event. The person who registers a team will receive an email with rules and instructions.

Register by Oct. 5 at the Peters Township Parks and Recreation Center or by visiting www.peterstownship.com. Fee is $10 for members and $15 for nonmembers.

Trunk or Treat

A drive-through Trunk or Treat event is scheduled for 1 to 3 p.m. Oct. 17 in the upper parking lot near shelters 1, 2 and 3 in Peterswood Park, Peters Township.

The event is for children ages 10 or younger, who are encouraged to wear costumes. Pre-registration is required by Oct. 14 or until all scheduled spaces are filled. Call 724-942-5000 to reserve your time.

South Hills Coin Club

The next monthly meeting of the South Hills Coin Club will be held at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 13 at the Bethel Park Municipal Building, 5100 W. Library Ave.

The program will be on Mercury dimes, which were struck by the U.S. Mint from 1916 to 1946, prior to replacement by coins bearing the likeness of Franklin Roosevelt.

All members and the general public are invited. A 50/50 will be offered and children’s prizes awarded. Applications are being accepted for membership.

Bethel Woman’s Club

The Bethel Woman’s Club meets Oct. 21 at the South Hills Elks Lodge, 2789 South Park Road, Bethel Park.

A social gathering at 11:30 a.m. will be followed by lunch at noon. The program features Christine Macintosh, Bethel Park Public Library director, speaking about “Women’s Undergarments of the Past.”

All South Hills women are invited to attend. For information about reservations, call Pat at 412-831-1861. Checks for the luncheon must be received no later than Oct. 16.

Sarris candy bars will be available, with profits benefiting Meals On Wheels and South Hills Interfaith Movement.

BP Halloween events

The municipality of Bethel Park will hold a “Spooktacular Parade” from noon to 3 p.m. on Oct. 31 and trick-or-treating from 6 to 8.

The parade will feature emergency vehicles and antique cars, along with candy and surprises for kids in the community. The event is being held in partnership with the Bethel Park Community Foundation.

Residents wishing to participate in trick-or-treating should turn their porch lights on. Those not wanting to participate can leave their porch lights off. Those participating in trick-or-treating are being encouraged to socially distance and wear a mask.

The municipality also is holding a Halloween decorating contest for Bethel Park residents. Judging will be from Oct. 23 through Nov. 1. One winner will be declared in each ward.

Arts and crafts show

The Upper St Clair League of Arts will present its annual arts and crafts show from Nov. 5-10 at the Upper St. Clair Activity Center, 1770 McLaughlin Run Road.

Hours are from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday through Saturday and Monday, and from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday and Tuesday.

Social distancing and masks required. Part of the proceeds go toward an art scholarship for an Upper St Clair student.
