South Hills Women’s Club

The South Hills Women’s Club will hold its monthly meeting at 7 p.m. Jan. 4 at Scott Park Lodge. Following the meeting is a “Getting to Know You Better” social.

Women veterans group

Women’s Army Corps Veterans’ Association – Army Women United will be meet at 11 a.m. on January 8, at Gianna Via’s Restaurant, 5301 Grove Road, Whitehall.

Elks hoop shoot

The Elks National Hoop Shoot is a free throw program for youth ages 8-13.

Lodge 2213’s hoop shoot is scheduled for Jan. 8 at the Bethel Park Community Center. Registration begins at 8 a.m. and the contest at 9.

South Hills Coin Club

The monthly meeting of the South Hills Coin Club is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Jan. 11, at the Bethel Park Municipal Building, 5100 W. Library Ave. All members and the general public are invited.

The program will be about P.T. Barnum. A 50/50 will be offered and children’s prizes awarded. Applications are being accepted for membership. For more information, call 724-984-6611.

Lensshooters Camera Club

The Western Pennsylvania Lensshooters Camera Club will feature photographer Tony Tye, retired photojournalist and editor with the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, as the guest speaker at Jan. 12 meeting, scheduled for 7:15 p.m. at Peters Township Public Library.

Tye has been an avid bird photographer for more that 12 years. He will show his work and talk about how to approach birds without scaring them away, local places that are good for bird photography, and lighting, exposure and use of different focus modes.

Membership is free to join the Western Pennsylvania Lensshooters. Members and anyone wishing to attend the January meeting must register online with the library, as seating is limited. Visit https://ptlibrary.org/, scroll down from “What’s Happening” and choose “Events List.”

Meditation course

A new course from the Jewish Learning Institute, “Meditation From Sinai,” will be held on six Wednesdays, Jan. 29-Feb. 23, at Chabad of the South Hills, 1701 McFarland Road, Mt. Lebanon or on Zoom.
